I started contributing to Mozilla nearly 11 years ago, in 2004, and joined as a full-time employee over 8 years ago. Suffice it to say, Mozilla has been a big part of my life in a lot of ways. I’ve dedicated essentially my entire career so far to Mozilla, and it introduced me to my wife. Just to name a couple. Mozilla’s in a great place now – still a tough challenge ahead, but plenty of great people willing and able to tackle it. Firefox has new leadership. I’m looking forward to what’s next! May 19, 2015.

Working for Mozilla on designing the next versions of Firefox, one of the great benefits is that we get to do our designs in the open, and improve. Web browsers, not just our own product. That’s why it’s so exciting to see our designs being adopted by other browser makers. A while back, I wrote a comprehensive overview on download managers. You can read the entire article. Sketch by Stephen Horlander. But th...

A Compact Representation of Captured Stack Frames for SpiderMonkey. Apr 10, 2015. Last year, I implemented a new, compact representation for captured JavaScript stacks in SpiderMonkey. This was done to support the allocation tracking I built into SpiderMonkey's. Which saves the stack for potentially every. The key observation is that while there may be many allocations, there are. Consider the example below:. Disregarding compiler optimizations removing allocations,. Hash consing lets us share older tail...
