So, I accepted a 0.8 position with the same employer I worked for part-time during my most recent three years of schooling. It's bittersweet. I'm happy to have a job and doing it well, but I'm frustrated with being unable to get a teaching position. I went back to school for that sole reason, and well, it just hasn't happened yet. Simply a place for me to come and share my thoughts, dreams, experiences, and possibly let off a wee bit of steam. Teaching - well, it's pretty fantastic. It feels pretty great to be in a classroom, watching kids learn, asking them questions and seeing the gears turning - all those little cliches people say are TRUE. And it's awesome. And it's snowing. How wonderful is that? My Dad just helped me put my winter tires on the car and as I drove home I experienced my first snow of the season. Good timing?

Travelling to Northern BC. Every year. Every year since I've met my wife*, I have made the trek north to Smithers, Hazelton, Kispiox, etc., BC to visit her mom, aunts, uncles, cousins, grandparents, friends. It's a very long drive. Interestingly, it's essentially the same distance from Edmonton as it currently is from Calgary: 1,150 kms. Book Review: The Case for the Psalms (NT Wright). I remember hearing in a podcast of Thomas Hopko ( Speaking the Truth in Love. In essence, Wright gives us context as to why Psalms were so elemental to early Christians, to 1st century Jewish culture and to Jesus himself. The primary features of the Psalms time. As they relate to the Kingdom of God. The psalmists and singers of the psalms look forward to the time. Ends up folding, combining the lament with remembrance and promise. God now lives with us.

Thursday, August 7, 2008. Here I am, delinquent again.I should really just stop making promises.then I can't break them or disappoint myself (or any of my loyal fans, haha). Today is HOT. It hasn't been this hot in a few weeks, and I LOVE it! Just a lazy summer day, which I luckily had off from work. Simply a place for me to come and share my thoughts, dreams, experiences, and possibly let off a wee bit of steam. Now, I may be working every day but one from now until Christmas, but I'm really looking forward to spending time with family and friends between now and then, and afterward, too. It's been a long month and a bit since starting to work full-time, and it's definitely had its ups and downs. so to find time to relax this season will be quite wonderful. Can't wait to meet him in person!
