New Life in the Lowcountry

New Life in the Lowcountry. Amber, Drew, Penelope and Mookie's adventures in Charleston, S.C. Sunday, October 30, 2011. Parenthood, pt. 2. More than five months into parenthood, it feels like I’ve accumulated a wealth of wisdom. Hindsight is 20/20. There are things that you find that you couldn’t live without, and there are some others that you didn’t need at all. For example, in a blog. With my pregnancy, everything pretty much went according to plan. I. Would it hurt like holy hell? Would Baby A be OK?

New Life in the Lowcountry: August 2011

http://www.amberversion2.blogspot.com/2011_08_01_archive.html

New Life in the Lowcountry. Amber, Drew, Penelope and Mookie's adventures in Charleston, S.C. Tuesday, August 23, 2011. And with a three-month-old baby at home, I don't want to take any chances. It was the second time yesterday that I had visited this Walmart. I went earlier in the day with Penelope and bought three containers of formula. More decisions will be made over the course of the next day or two. I don't have a smartphone, but I can text updates to our whereabouts on my Twitter page, which c...

New Life in the Lowcountry. Amber, Drew, Penelope and Mookie's adventures in Charleston, S.C. Sunday, February 27, 2011. One big reality check. My dad, apparently, is a modern medical miracle. Well- that may be overstating it, but I think it's pretty darn close. It is accurate to say that had his aneurysm occurred pretty much anywhere else in his brain, he would not be here today. Dad and Mom on Wednesday, February 23, 2011. Sunday, February 6, 2011. A break from writing. Good morning, folks,. I am worki...

New Life in the Lowcountry: My predictions...

http://www.amberversion2.blogspot.com/2011/05/my-predictions.html

New Life in the Lowcountry. Amber, Drew, Penelope and Mookie's adventures in Charleston, S.C. Sunday, May 8, 2011. As Baby A's arrival creeps closer and closer, I'd like to make some predictions as to what things will make those first few days, weeks and months easier. So I'm going to announce my predictions publicly, and then I will get back to you whether I was right. (I have a feeling I'm going to be completely off mark on some of them.). So, here goes:. Our family, friends and doula. As for the pump,...

New Life in the Lowcountry: Penelope, the silly sleeper

http://www.amberversion2.blogspot.com/2011/10/penelope-silly-sleeper.html

New Life in the Lowcountry. Amber, Drew, Penelope and Mookie's adventures in Charleston, S.C. Sunday, October 16, 2011. Penelope, the silly sleeper. Today was not as good of a nap day. It seems like the conditions in our small one-bedroom apartment are hardly ever right for a sleeping baby. Mookie may bark, the washing machine may clunkily start a new cycle, the floorboards may creak underneath my feet or Drew or I may accidentally knock into something in the kitchen. I long. Amber, Drew and Penelope.

New Life in the Lowcountry: April 2011

http://www.amberversion2.blogspot.com/2011_04_01_archive.html

New Life in the Lowcountry. Amber, Drew, Penelope and Mookie's adventures in Charleston, S.C. Saturday, April 23, 2011. Life at 35 weeks. But that was an awfully nice thing to hear when you are feeling as big as a boat. I haven't been using a special kind of lotion on my stomach, but I do make sure to put some on every day. And I wonder if gentle back-bending yoga stretches has anything to do with keeping my skin healthy and loose. Who knows? Drew and I also finally. Labels: Charleston Birth Center.

The New Low: September 2008

http://thenewllow.blogspot.com/2008_09_01_archive.html

Random musings and observations. Not guaranteed to be pertinent to your life. Tuesday, September 30, 2008. Weather, And under it. It's getting cold. The space heater's out. But I have a migraine (although that could have resulted from my friend J who called my phone at 4:18 am) that usually exacerbates from the cold snap. This afternoon, the air was crisp. I loved it. But tonight, I was wrapped up in a soft throw while watching TV in the "basement". Tuesday, September 30, 2008. Saturday, September 6, 2008.

The New Low: The worst of times has not even hit yet

http://thenewllow.blogspot.com/2008/11/worst-of-times-has-not-even-hit-yet.html

Random musings and observations. Not guaranteed to be pertinent to your life. Tuesday, November 11, 2008. The worst of times has not even hit yet. And I'm sick, sick to the depths of my stomach that I will have these horrific stories to tell future generations of my generation's bad economic times, layoffs. I never want to relive those moments again, but in these bad economic times, when downsizing is so rampant, one can never tell when the bad news were to come from the top. Tuesday, November 11, 2008.

The New Low: March 2008

Random musings and observations. Not guaranteed to be pertinent to your life. Friday, March 21, 2008. In the interest of knowledge . I tried to resist, thought I fought the good fight but I lost. I’m sadly another registered number in the Facebook network. I put off friends’ invitation with the valid reason I don’t need another site to login to and update. Like M, the reason I joined was in the interest of learning more of the everchanging or everadapting internet. There’s just no escaping it. I finally ...

http://thenewllow.blogspot.com/2008_08_01_archive.html

Random musings and observations. Not guaranteed to be pertinent to your life. Sunday, August 31, 2008. I'm truly fortunate to grow up in Singapore. Because of her location's integral ties to maritime activity, historical and present, we have the luxury of influences from all over the world, including our gastronomy. That said, it is of little wonder that most Singaporeans are inclined to try almost any food once. Bacon flavor wears off. But hey, to each his own, and don't let ME influence you all THAT mu...

The New Low: Always wary ... that's my game

http://thenewllow.blogspot.com/2008/10/always-wary-thats-my-game.html

Random musings and observations. Not guaranteed to be pertinent to your life. Sunday, October 5, 2008. Always wary . that's my game. I've always been untrusting of people. A girl friend of mine, C, can tell you that. We first met a job fair. I was waiting for the prep talk to begin when C came up and sat right next to me, in spite of all the empty chairs around. I was right to assume that she chose me because I'm Asian like her, and we share that common bond. I would be the asshole who intruded on his.

The New Low: June 2008

http://thenewllow.blogspot.com/2008_06_01_archive.html

Random musings and observations. Not guaranteed to be pertinent to your life. Tuesday, June 3, 2008. I've no business in politics. I simply don't understand how the great minds of politics work. And I totally lack any diplomatic overtones and savvy networking skills. The latter, I got to get a handle on. I'm in sales now, damnit. This was an opponent who took every opportunity to put him down for his lack of experience, and now she wants a part of his campaign? Geez, I'm so naive. Patrick: If you think i...

The New Low: Back to the fundamentals of reading

http://thenewllow.blogspot.com/2008/10/back-to-fundamentals-of-reading.html

Random musings and observations. Not guaranteed to be pertinent to your life. Monday, October 20, 2008. Back to the fundamentals of reading. I finally joined a book club. It's been a while since I opened a good book and finished it. I would say it would be 2-3 years ago that I was reading consistently. Another reason I stopped reading for a while is that when I was finished with all that particular author's collections, who would I read next? Monday, October 20, 2008. http://thenewllow.blogspot.com/2008_02_01_archive.html

Random musings and observations. Not guaranteed to be pertinent to your life. Tuesday, February 26, 2008. Why rush into marriage? I don't get it. Someone I know at work had been dating for less than a year before he packed up and moved to Chicago cuz his girlfriend wanted to move back to be with family, moved into an apartment together, and now, just a few months more than a year, are engaged and planning an October wedding. Who the hell am I to bust his bubble, right? Bob: We learn from our mistakes.

Random musings and observations. Not guaranteed to be pertinent to your life. Monday, April 28, 2008. I can't handle my fame. The subject line is in jest, but it doesn't stray from the point that I have friends who constantly wants to do stuff with me. And I don't know how to turn them down. When I do, I feel rotten. We I, need alone time to ourselves. I've turned down enough invitations that I feel I'm giving her the cold shoulder. But I'm not. I just can't afford to spend on eating out cons...Most of m...
