Little Voices: Mike Mulligan
http://littlektvoices.blogspot.com/2011/06/mike-mulligan.html
Five in a Row. Tuesday, June 07, 2011. Mike Mulligan and His Steam Shovel. This was the first time we repeated an author, Virginia Lee Burton. I was slightly not looking forward to this book because, you know, steam shovels didn't sound that interesting to me. But one of the reasons I chose this book was because I needed to use a Mamapedia. The kids didn't have a concept of what a steam shovel is, so I checked out a book about backhoes from the library (T already knew all about. I really liked the. But t...

Hugs and Hissyfits: June 2008
http://sugarsandspices.blogspot.com/2008_06_01_archive.html
Sunday, June 29, 2008. It's a bird, it's a plane. No! I'm just getting practice in before we really start homeschooling, which probably won't be this fall but next. We need to do a lot of curriculum research before we decide on one, but we have plenty of time. In Illinois, you're not required to start homeschooling until your child is 7, and we'll be starting well before that. I'll probably be writing a lot about this in the next year. And Elsie piped up, "YOU! Tuesday, June 24, 2008. My new best friend.

http://sugarsandspices.blogspot.com/2008_09_01_archive.html
Tuesday, September 30, 2008. Look at Claira.she's waving! Monday, September 29, 2008. Friday was my birthday, and Elsie was talking about it all day long.mostly asking me about my cake. Now, I really hadn't planned to have a cake. Wahoo, I'm 27. Her response? But Mommy, you have to have a cake for your candles! Of course. So, she said she'd call Daddy to tell him I needed a cake. She got on the phone, and he must've been asking her what kind to get because she asked me "what color I wanted? Um, Elsie Tho...

Little Voices: The Story of Ferdinand
http://littlektvoices.blogspot.com/2015/03/the-story-of-ferdinand.html
Five in a Row. Friday, March 27, 2015. The Story of Ferdinand. T's next row was Ferdinand. I love the detailed, humorous illustrations in this book. Since this is another case of doing basically what we'd done when rowing this with K. I'll just post some pictures from this time. Both kids loved looking at this series of pictures after I had the photos developed and put them in T's FIAR notebook. As the years went by Ferdinand grew and grew until he was very big and strong." In the book illustration F...

Little Voices: Mike Mulligan
http://littlektvoices.blogspot.com/2015/04/mike-mulligan.html
Five in a Row. Wednesday, April 08, 2015. In November T was happy to turn to the power and tenacity of a hardworking steam shovel with his next row,. Mike Mulligan and His Steam Shovel. Mike Mulligan and Mary Anne built the foundation neat and square." We reviewed what a square is and found some around the house, measuring them to be sure that they were, in fact, squares. T also enjoyed making some squares on a geoboard. After we did this experiment, T wanted me to take an "explaining" picture where he s...

Hugs and Hissyfits: October 2008
http://sugarsandspices.blogspot.com/2008_10_01_archive.html
Sunday, October 26, 2008. Claira is quickly gaining publicity at our house for being a waffle snatcher so she gets her own now. Elsie was amazed that Claira's waffle matched hers. Friday, October 24, 2008. She said, "No, I miss him though," and I suggested she look for him. She wanted to know where so I told her to look behind the rocking chair, in her toybox, and finally underneath our beds. Thursday, October 23, 2008. Sunday, October 12, 2008. We went to Goebbert's today with a large group of friends f...

Friday, November 21, 2008. Elsie-"Miss Jenny's hair isn't blonde anymore. I wonder how it changed colors.". Elsie-"You remember when Claira was at the hospital in that big plastic box? I want to do that again.". Claira in the plastic box:. I don't have a lot of arms. I only got two arms! Elsie had "foot lips" also known as Froot Loops to the rest of us as a snack today.she's been counting them to tell me how many she has left so every 5 seconds I hear, I've got 7 foot lips now! Now I've got 6 foot lips!
