Höpöhöpö: Behavioral pricing
http://hoposquared.blogspot.com/2007/06/behavioral-pricing.html
Oakland, San Francisco, music, food, fun, politics, tv, books, computers, life. Just nonsense. Friday, June 15, 2007. I can't be 100% sure, but I believe I was almost a victim of an internet site adjusting their prices based on my web surfing behavior. So I went to a different site to buy the package at a slightly higher price than the original price, but cheaper than the new $40 more price. But then I decided to just check again in the morning to see if the price went back down. So one of two things hap...

Höpöhöpö: August 2006
http://hoposquared.blogspot.com/2006_08_01_archive.html
Oakland, San Francisco, music, food, fun, politics, tv, books, computers, life. Just nonsense. Monday, August 28, 2006. Snakes on a plane. A lot of you won't understand this. But I went and saw Snakes On A Plane. On opening weekend. And I had a blast. I am a victim of Snakes On A Plane grass roots marketing. If you haven't seen any of the fan sites for SoaP, you need to do check them out. There's a bunch listed here. When you're done with that, you have to check out this page of SoaP sequel ideas. The th...

Höpöhöpö: 3 weeks down
http://hoposquared.blogspot.com/2008/07/3-weeks-down.html
Oakland, San Francisco, music, food, fun, politics, tv, books, computers, life. Just nonsense. Saturday, July 19, 2008. Training is going well, knocked out the 4,5, and 6 mile weekend runs, along with 2 3-mile runs during each week (plus some strength training on other days). I don't remember) minutes. So my pace around home seems really slow, but I know a lot of that is due to the hills. Hopefully the training will make it easier to run the relatively flat course in October. Höpöhöpö: February 2007
http://hoposquared.blogspot.com/2007_02_01_archive.html
Oakland, San Francisco, music, food, fun, politics, tv, books, computers, life. Just nonsense. Wednesday, February 07, 2007. One of the most controversial topics in the San Francisco Chronicle's food critic's blog. Is the topic of tipping. Whenever he writes about it, the comments become practically violent. In the end, tipping has definitely departed from its original intentions - when I fill out the tip portion of my bill the service quality only affects a very small part of my decision.

Höpöhöpö: San Jose r'n'r half marathon 2008
http://hoposquared.blogspot.com/2008/07/san-jose-rnr-half-marathon-2008.html
Oakland, San Francisco, music, food, fun, politics, tv, books, computers, life. Just nonsense. Sunday, July 06, 2008. San Jose r'n'r half marathon 2008. It's not that interesting to others, but I like keeping a record of my running training programs so that I can refer back to them the next time I train. So with much fanfare, I announce the 2008 San Jose Rock 'n Roll Half Marathon long-run training schedule! July 5 - 4 miles. July 12 - 5 miles. July 19 - 6 miles. July 26 - 7 miles. August 2 - 5 miles.

Höpöhöpö: January 2007
http://hoposquared.blogspot.com/2007_01_01_archive.html
Oakland, San Francisco, music, food, fun, politics, tv, books, computers, life. Just nonsense. Sunday, January 28, 2007. 1 month since my last post and I choose to write about universal health care? How boring is that! Let me start by saying that I could be misinterpreting this plan, so if I've gotten some of the facts wrong, well, chalk it up to the confusion of the plan. Hmmmm A little strange, but let's continue. Wow Hooray for the crystal clear American tax system. So anyway, the whole point of this ...

Höpöhöpö: What running on empty looks like
http://hoposquared.blogspot.com/2007/07/what-running-on-empty-looks-like.html
Oakland, San Francisco, music, food, fun, politics, tv, books, computers, life. Just nonsense. Saturday, July 14, 2007. What running on empty looks like. Courtesy of the wrist gps system that my wife uses when we run, here are some interesting graphs of our last two runs. First, 2 weeks ago, a 7.5 mile run, which was one of our best runs:. A couple of interesting points:. The run started at 9:15 AM, the weather was very cool and slightly damp. The run as a whole had an average of 6.3MPH. View my complete...

Höpöhöpö: Gun control
http://hoposquared.blogspot.com/2007/04/gun-control.html
Oakland, San Francisco, music, food, fun, politics, tv, books, computers, life. Just nonsense. Sunday, April 22, 2007. So I'm probably the 87 millionth person to bring up gun control this week. I thought CNN.com did a respectable job of presenting the two sides of the issue with two columns: this column. Is in support of getting rid of all guns (except for certain hunting or sports clubs), and this column. Sometimes I wonder how Supreme Court Justices are able to handle the weight of their positions.

Höpöhöpö: December 2006
http://hoposquared.blogspot.com/2006_12_01_archive.html
Oakland, San Francisco, music, food, fun, politics, tv, books, computers, life. Just nonsense. Tuesday, December 26, 2006. For some reason I started wondering today why home stereos come with bass and treble knobs (or sometimes full EQ settings). And then someone buys it, goes home, and plays it on their stereo with the bass and treble knobs turned to some bizarre value. Posted by Jim @ 7:53 PM. Monday, December 04, 2006. Replacing an iPod battery. Though this problem is not unique to iPods, all recharge...
