Thursday, December 9, 2010. Each to their own. I have come to the conclusion that there are just two types of people: those that want to sail boats (yachts) and those that want to drive them (motor boats). There are numerous flavours within that spectrum - e.g. some want to race yachts, while others want to float around in a peaceful daze watching the herons and oyster catchers go about their daily rituals - but I'm convinced that there is a fairly clear divide between the two groups. Each to their own.

Wednesday, December 29, 2010. Everyone in New Zealand has a boat. It might be an 8ft dinghy with a big hole where the hull ought to be, but it's still a boat. More often than not, though, it's some big mother of a boat, with either lots of ropes and sails onboard, or some mammoth piece of equipment attached with Mercury written on it. Rog woke me this morning and suggested that I look carefully out of the window. Only the Queen Mary2 moored up next to us now! What a magnificent sight though. Sunday, January 26, 2014. Another snowy craft we did this month was painting snowflakes with a tape resist. This easy project comes from Little Bins for Little Hands. The girls had fun painting over the tape and just needed a little encouragement to paint the rest of the paper so we could see the white snowflake show through after the tape was removed. Once they got the idea, it was fun to paint the whole page. S is for Snow. Pixie did a great job cutting out Frosty's scarf. Check out this awesome S!
