Growing up in the place I grew up. Friday, December 31, 2010. Thursday, December 30, 2010. On Day 3, the boy learned to snorkel, and we ate at Bubba Gump's. Tuesday, December 28, 2010. Gin and guava, some splashing in the pool, and some coconut whacking. 23 hours of travel with 2 kids under 5 is a lot, so we had some photo shoots on the plane. And some wine. Growing up in the place I grew up. Saturday, January 29, 2011. Pandas Are On Sale at the Zoo. I came down with a cold one week into the semester. This is not good. I am attributing it, although indirectly, to working out. :) I decided that in order to make working out happen consistently, I should switch it to mornings. So I got up earlier all week. The only problem was I didn't get to bed and earlier, and just ended up sleep deprived. And keeps it at home in his bed. That was pretty awesome. I made a de...

Present: Ambiguity

Growing up in the place I grew up. Sunday, March 11, 2012. Tomorrow morning I will walk into a new school, and be immediately expected to take over a caseload of 69 kids. And none of that really scares me. Let me tell you what does. I. Hate. Ambiguity. Sure 69 kids is a ton. And yes, I don't have a lot of experience planning or implementing therapy. But there are a lot of other things I really suck at that make this feel overwhelming. Such as:. How will I find my way around school? Where is my room?

Growing up in the place I grew up. Saturday, February 05, 2011. In the midst of a chaotic week, I have managed to fit in 5 workouts, for a total of 3 hours and 45 minutes of exercise. I've even gotten up consistently at 6:15 to make it happen. And yes, I am pretty darn proud of myself right now. Friday, February 04, 2011. It broke my heart. Tuesday, February 01, 2011. Growing up in the place I grew up. Friday, March 11, 2011. I finished up the previous post, still very relaxed from 3 glasses of rioja, and got ready for bed. I read through my RSS feed as I drank a few bottles of water to rehydrate, and as I turned off the TV to go to sleep, my dad called and said there had been anearthquake and a possible tsunami. Seen footage of the Indonesian tsunami. Actually, the think that instant. The hour or two after hearing about the tsunami was cha. Aker announcements to clea...

Growing up in the place I grew up. Sunday, September 26, 2010. I spent the weekend at the lake with some amazing old friends. We've hung out periodically, but with kids it's not always easy to really connect, and this weekend was a great time of doing that. And of course, there were obligatory self-portraits with the oldest kiddos. Tuesday, September 21, 2010. I could do everything perfectly, I'd be all set. Thursday, September 16, 2010. 1) I didn't wear socks in my bike sandals. Numb toes and feet.

Growing up in the place I grew up. Wednesday, October 27, 2010. It is a good morning. I woke up to an email that 2 classes for the day are canceled, and the quizzes in those classes have been postponed to next week. Hooray! Monday, October 25, 2010. Today, thankfully, has been a much better day. My family came up and we went out for dinner last night. Resources are much more in balance today. There's still a lot to do, but it'll happen. Sunday, October 24, 2010. There are times when you have heavy things...
