Lost in Translation...: November 2012

http://www.andysweet.blogspot.com/2012_11_01_archive.html

One man, his wife and his blog, working on funding proposals in Nairobi. Monday, November 26, 2012. I'm long overdue writing on the blog and so I'm snatching a few minutes this Monday morning as I'll not be able to make headway on the main task of the day until the afternoon. Hope has the autumn been? Busy is what it's been:. Wrote of the win that "When he [Djokovic] broke again in game three of the second there seemed little prospect of the muted afternoon crowd coming to life." That was us. Last week I...

Lost in Translation...: What's been making the news in December:

http://www.andysweet.blogspot.com/2011/12/whats-been-making-news-in-december.html

One man, his wife and his blog, working on funding proposals in Nairobi. Wednesday, December 21, 2011. What's been making the news in December:. Over the past month or so there have been a number of articles on the internet about Bible translation. Here are links to all the ones that I have come across. The Bible should be available to read in every Christian's native language. Http:/ www.guardian.co.uk/commentisfree/belief/2011/dec/20/bible-translation-ivorian-village. It seems to me that the question h...

Lost in Translation...: Scrabble-icious

http://www.andysweet.blogspot.com/2011/12/scrabble-icious.html

One man, his wife and his blog, working on funding proposals in Nairobi. Saturday, December 31, 2011. Thursday's game of Scrabble featuring scores of 353 against 298. Pretty epic. Subscribe to: Post Comments (Atom). I live in Nairobi, Kenya where I work on institutional funding for a Christian NGO. I'm often indecisive about most things, so when I know I have something to say I blurt it out - hence my two blogs. Enjoy! View my complete profile. Terrill and Amber - Schrock and Awe. Lost in Translation...: Way out West: Part 1 - The first two days

http://www.andysweet.blogspot.com/2012/06/way-out-west-part-1-first-two-days.html

One man, his wife and his blog, working on funding proposals in Nairobi. Wednesday, June 27, 2012. Way out West: Part 1 - The first two days. Travelling in Kenya is not something that I get to do much. I feel that Nairobi is where I am accustomed to and going out of town brings me out in something of a rash - I become crisis-oriented and think of all the things that could go wrong. When I actually pick up my bag and embark on the trip, I seem to find that it's not so bad after all. To see for yourself.

Lost in Translation...: Code and chips

http://www.andysweet.blogspot.com/2012/01/code-and-chips.html

One man, his wife and his blog, working on funding proposals in Nairobi. Wednesday, January 18, 2012. French has taken a bit of a back seat in the past three months. After a promising start it's become quite hard to get back from work and down to French in the slot before starting to cook and things like that. Something I have found enjoyable to fit into the cracks has been Codecademy. Im going to get one of those too. They look like fun. Subscribe to: Post Comments (Atom). View my complete profile.

For God So ‘Dvu’d’ the World…. February 14, 2014. February 11, 2014. Translator Lee Bramlett was confident that God had left His mark on the Hdi. Culture somewhere, but though he searched, he could not find it. Where was the footprint of God in the history or daily life of these Cameroonian people? What clue had He planted to let the Hdi know Who He was and how He wanted to relate to them? Yes, they said. That would mean that the wife had been loved but the love was gone. Yesterday, I was talking to a friend over lunch as he was telling me about his desire to grow his business, or offer different services, or…. just something different. It reminded me that getting what you want isn’t the hardest thing, it’s KNOWING what you want. How many people can clearly and succinctly define a goal they have? How do you plan to do it? And by the way, if you’re looking for a great Grand Rapids gym. Check o...
