The Moviegoer: July 2007
http://the-moviegoer.blogspot.com/2007_07_01_archive.html
Tuesday, July 10, 2007. So I've been doing a trial run of Netflix ever since I heard my friend Brant was using it. It's great! They have all the movies I've been dying to rent but which are never, ever in the local video store. Not sure how it compares to Blockbuster, but I like the web interface a lot better than the Blockbuster interface I tried out (it lets me do things like search by language, and the schematization of the films is superior imo). The Moviegoer: April 2006
http://the-moviegoer.blogspot.com/2006_04_01_archive.html
Sunday, April 30, 2006. A thought experiment occurred to me the other day. Suppose you were marooned on a tropical island. After getting your bearings and enjoying a few papayas you decide to explore the island to see if it's deserted. While walking along the beach you discover a stopwatch in the sand. You know it must have belonged to a human because:. If you chose 'b', does this mean all comparisons of living creatures with human equipment is, in the end, a fatally flawed analogy? The Moviegoer: Myopia in American Academic Philosophy
http://the-moviegoer.blogspot.com/2006/07/myopia-in-american-academic-philosophy.html
Friday, July 14, 2006. Myopia in American Academic Philosophy. In a post that's begging to get philosophers frothing at the mouth denouncing the evils of French-influenced humanities departments. Prof Jason Stanley artfully introduces what probably ought to be (and maybe is) a topic of concern in American academics: the complete neglect of Angle-American philosophical interests within non-philosophical humanities programs. That French intellectual life involves such a unification of concerns, and that Am...

Scots Wha Hae!: 2010 General Election - Part 2
http://scots-wha-hae.blogspot.com/2010/10/2010-general-election-part-2.html
Herein lie the thoughts and ponderings of a Reformationally-minded, right-wing, conservative, adult male of Scottish descent. Beware. Sunday, October 31, 2010. 2010 General Election - Part 2. This is Part 2 of my analysis of the 2010 General Election from Orange County, CA. YES - I'm somewhat torn about this one. On one hand I'm not convinced that this "Independent Citizens Redistricting Commission" is truly independent. How are they held accountable? How are they protected against political influence?

Scots Wha Hae!: Who said Presbyterians Don't Believe in Ubiquity?

Herein lie the thoughts and ponderings of a Reformationally-minded, right-wing, conservative, adult male of Scottish descent. Beware. Tuesday, January 15, 2013. Who said Presbyterians Dont Believe in Ubiquity? Maybe I'm the only one who finds this funny (the use of the word "ubiquity" in different contexts) and concerning (for theological, pragmatic, cultural, and aesthetic reasons too involved to go into just now). Scots Wha Hae!: A New Hymn of Praise
http://scots-wha-hae.blogspot.com/2010/11/new-hymn-of-praise.html
Herein lie the thoughts and ponderings of a Reformationally-minded, right-wing, conservative, adult male of Scottish descent. Beware. Tuesday, November 09, 2010. A New Hymn of Praise. As my friends know, I am a big proponent of the classic hymns of the Christian faith. The best ones have solid doctrinal content and singable, reverent tunes. They are treasures to be taught and passed down to future generations. In addition to the Psalms, however, there are also passages throughout other. And have now made...
