Baby Robins

June 22, 2010 A few weeks ago, we got a Fat Albert Spruce for our front lawn. Undecided as to where to permanently plant it, a planter on our front lawn became the spruce's temporary home. I thought nothing of the robin that fluttered between the boughs of the spruce this morning. But when we…

Day 3: Robins are feeding | Baby Robins

https://anestofrobins.wordpress.com/day-3

Day 3: Robins are feeding. Leave a comment ». July 10, 2010. Early this morning, Mrs. Robinson was on the lawn with a mouthful (beakful? The following photos were taken at a distance with a 200mm lens so as not to interfere with the feeding. I thought baby birds are fed regurgitated bits of food. But she fed them entire worms! About an hour later, they were ready for another round of feeding. Soft-bodied, crunchy bugs for the next meal. The nestlings get fed about 7 times in an hour! Day 5: Getting Bigger.

Day 2: Robins in the rain | Baby Robins

https://anestofrobins.wordpress.com/day-2

Day 2: Robins in the rain. Leave a comment ». July 9, 2010. It rained most of the day so this is the only photo I have. I didn’t see the babies at all today. Mama Robin sheltered them from the rain with her wings. We are naming our robins “The Robinsons”, as suggested by my daughter, Francine. Henceforth, I will be referring to Mama Robin as Mrs. Robinson and the Dad ( if he shows up), Mr. Robinson. We don’t have names for the babies yet. July 9, 2010 at 10:03 pm. Day 11: It’s getting tight. Leave a comment ». July 18, 2010. Looks like these guys went through a growth spurt overnight! They spread their wings and switch positions often. Day 9: Fully feathered and fluffy | Baby Robins

https://anestofrobins.wordpress.com/day-9

Day 9: Fully feathered and fluffy. Leave a comment ». July 16, 2010. Aren’t we getting heftier! They’re also starting to get some red coloration in their feathers. The nestlings are now able to keep themselves warm with their feathers. I heard the babies chirp ever so faintly, for the first time. Showing off their nicely speckled breast feathers. A few feet away from our spruce is a newly planted Red Maple from where Mr. and Mrs. Robin sometimes watch the babies. Oh, you are so adorable! Day 11: It&#8217...

Day 6: They love to sleep! | Baby Robins

https://anestofrobins.wordpress.com/day-6

Day 6: They love to sleep! Leave a comment ». July 13, 2010. Just like all babies, they sleep most of the day. You can see the pin feathers are much more prominent today. Their tongue is the same colour as the inside of their beak. If you look closely at the next 2 photos, the wing feathers are starting to break out of the sheaths. Check out that tiny claw peeking out of the nest. July 13, 2010 at 10:11 pm. Leave a Reply Cancel reply. Enter your comment here. Address never made public).

good tiredness and other things | beneath the skull, a nest of quiet

Good tiredness and other things. Beneath the skull, a nest of quiet. In Which I Fangirl. A Dose of Summer…. Okay, I’m baaack! 🙂 I just realized I haven’t posted anything in a month. I shall blame work for that. Anyway. Why the post title though? Well, the rainy season has. Started in my country already but I still have shiny, pretty things to remind me of summer. Much like, Chanel’s Rouge Allure in Melodieuse. Continue reading →. July 13, 2014. All the Things: On Beauty, Buying, and Blogging. Retyping t...

Undecided as to where to permanently plant it, a planter on our front lawn became the spruce’s temporary home. I thought nothing of the robin that fluttered between the boughs of the spruce this morning. But when we returned home from work this evening, something caught my attention: a clump of dried grass strewn on the boughs of the tree. It is quite common for them to nest close to human habitation. You ar...
