Tuesday, March 20, 2012. Latrine Project is Finished! Well congrats the hard working mason Thierno from Kukuji, all those who dug their holes, and my village father Alpha Mamadou who carted the sand and gravel to each site; We completed the 15 latrines that I got the grant for a month ago. That’s 15 families who will now be able to stop pooping in the bush, which means less diarrhea for everyone! Too bad I didn’t have more time and money to get some more done. Especially to Thierno, that man is a beast of...

A jaraama Senegal!: COS: Close Of Service
http://ericlella.blogspot.com/2012/04/cos-close-of-service.html
Wednesday, April 18, 2012. COS: Close Of Service. About a week into April I said goodbye to my family and friends for two years, packed up my hut, gave my last gifts, handed my key to my Baba and I biked out of Pellel Kindessa. It was a sad experience, and the short ride to Dindefelo alone was bittersweet, I know I’ll go back again to visit sometime, I hope that it is sooner than later. Earlier that week when hiking out to the Dindefelo waterfall for one of the last times, I finally saw the chimpanzees!

Some of the beach at Kent, the fishing village and where we caught the boat to Banana Island. Our guesthouse's beach on Banana Island. The main area of the guesthouse, with a second floor sitting canopy.

A jaraama Senegal!: June 2011
http://ericlella.blogspot.com/2011_06_01_archive.html
Friday, June 24, 2011. Normally I only write blog posts about myself (I know I’m so modest), but today I must share these gems of Senegalese news with you all at home. So yesterday we received endless text-message update about the intense rioting in Dakar, let me explain. Yesterday the National Assembly was set to vote on a new Constitutional Amendment put forth by Senegal’s President Abdulaye Wade. That was just too ridiculous to not let you guys know. Tuesday, May 17, 2011. Health Hut Construction Updates. Well I got back to Village last week from my little stay-cation in Dakar/Thies, where I was helping out with trainings and getting my mid-service checkup, and boy did they make a lot of progress on the health hut renovation. But since I was at that ...
