My Favorite Tools and Supplies: Colored Pencil Work. Lately I've been asked a lot about my favorite tools and supplies for my colored pencil work. When I started drawing and painting, I was looking for the 'perfect' pencil or sharpener or eraser, I've found I need more than one, each of them for a specific purpose. I use all what I've listed here! You'll find here some photos and a list with all my favorites, their names and brands. Fabriano Classico 5 HP 300gsm/140lb. Botanical Drawing In Color. Refer t...

Evidence of idle hands…. The Iliad by Homer. The Odyssey by Homer. Newer posts →. Evolution of my colored pencil swatches. My early attempts at color matching were done by holding pencils up to the flower or plant that I was drawing, leaning in close and then closing one eye to get the most accurate read possible. What I thought was color matching was really just guessing… So I read about using color swatches – I know! Pencil swatch the 'old' way. An artist friend of mine. Yesterday I did all of my shopp...

Cheryl Miller ~ Botanical Art: A Surprise in the Winter Garden
http://cherylmillerbotanicalart.blogspot.com/2015/12/a-surprise-in-winter-garden.html
Cheryl Miller Botanical Art. Artwork inspired by the Natural World. Sunday, December 27, 2015. A Surprise in the Winter Garden. I've had a happy surprise in the garden this month my Helleborus is loaded with winter blooms for the first time. It's so nice to see flowers blooming in December. We are enjoying a very mild start to winter this year. Christmas Eve was sunny with the temps in the 60's! Though I do love the snow, I am contented to delay the cold weather for just a bit longer.

Cheryl Miller ~ Botanical Art: September 2015
http://cherylmillerbotanicalart.blogspot.com/2015_09_01_archive.html
Cheryl Miller Botanical Art. Artwork inspired by the Natural World. Wednesday, September 30, 2015. Between working on other projects I have been working on a sketchbook page of "bits and pieces" from my early autumn garden, field, and woods behind our home. It's been a relaxing project, both in the drawing and also in the gathering of pieces to draw. It's also great practice in observation and drawing skills. I hope to have 30 small drawings to fill the page when I'm finished. Blanc Double de Coubert rose.
