http://sleepingintheheartland.blogspot.com/2011_11_01_archive.html
Sleeping In the Heartland. Wednesday, November 30, 2011. Ray Raphael is an unabashed, and unrepentant, child of the Sixties. Describing his college years, he acknowledges his official major was philosophy .but notes " my real focus was on being an activist. His 'activist ways' continued as he earned a graduate degree in philosophy at UC Berkeley under the tutelage of " a guy in the department who was an expert in Karl Marx. He later returned to college " .long enough to get a teaching credential. Middle-...

Dollar store treasures | Memoir
https://thingsicarry.wordpress.com/2008/04/01/dollar-store-treasures
April 1, 2008 at 9:05 pm Posted in Society. I love going to the dollar store to find new books to read. Once in a while, I’ll find brilliance in between those crossword puzzle books and stacks of Bibles. I always feel kind of sad for the authors of those books who spent months and years pouring their hearts out onto these pages, only to have their art end up being sold for a buck and six with tax. Isn’t always good. 2 Comments ». Feed for comments on this post. Comment by Mrs. Chicken. My name is Lauren&...

I haven't decided whether I'm getting more creative as I grow older, or if I've finally gone over the edge. Maybe this blog will answer the question. Or perhaps, raise a few more. We'll see. Monday, July 6, 2015. Fringeville #132, July 06 2015. Successful holiday weekend. Chock full of a whole lotta nuttin. The holiday weekend went pretty much as planned. In contrast to what my life has been like the past 7 months, I filled it chock full of as much nothing as I could. In the backyard. (The pool isn't...

By Kevin J. Jordan. Wednesday, November 9, 2011. Say It Ain't So, Joe. Say it ain't so Joe. Please tell me and your legion of fans that you thought you had no obligation to a 10-year old child who was raped beyond telling your boss. Say it ain't so Joe. Truth be told, at most colleges the Athletic Director would be your boss. Everyone knows that at Penn State you are his boss. Tell us that you didn't just wash your hands of the matter. Say it ain't so Joe. This isn't about you. Say it ain't so. When the ...

By Kevin J. Jordan. Tuesday, June 14, 2011. George Herbert Walker Bush. I'm often asked about the "important" people you get a chance to meet as a reporter. I was blessed to have a 25 year career as a broadcast journalist and was very fortunate to meet some of those "important" people. Who was the nicest? But I'll start at the bottom of the list. By far the nicest presidential candidate I ever interviewed was George Herbert Walker Bush, our 41st President. I left knowing that this was not just a candidat...
