About | Walking the Don

https://walkingthedon.wordpress.com/about

Reflections on walking Toronto's Don River from mouth to headwaters. The goal of this project is to walk the Don from the river’s mouth to its headwaters, including the East and West Don, and Taylor-Massey Creek. The idea is to savour the river in leisurely bites, spending free Saturday afternoons over the course of the next year exploring different reaches, in the company, whenever possible, of other Don enthusiasts. Walk #2: East Don, Eglinton to Lawrence. Approaching the Past workshop series, Toronto.

History Has Left the Building. August 19, 2011 at 11:47 am. Posted by *New Blogger* Katherine Joyce. For the past several years, I’ve been interested in outdoor education, and about the possibilities for teaching history in the outdoors. This year I’ve discovered more and more people who share this interest, and I have been lucky enough to attend two workshops focused on teaching history outside. The first was a joint workshop of THEN/HiER and ActiveHistory.ca. Called Teaching History in Diverse Venues.

Reflections on walking Toronto's Don River from mouth to headwaters. Locating the former sites of Charles Sauriol’s cottages at the Forks. November 7, 2010 in Uncategorized. Before we set out on our first walk in mid-October, John Wilson and I wandered around the area surrounding the Charles Sauriol Conservation Reserve parking lot, deliberating about the location of Charles Sauriol’s former cottage sites at the Forks. Walk #2: East Don, Eglinton to Lawrence. Walkers: Jennifer Bonnell, John Wilson, Helen Mills. We set out to pick up where we left off on a cold day in early December (I’m taking up the dubious practice of blogging a month after the event). Or, at least, more or less where we left off.
