Dust Bunnies Under My Loom. Wednesday, July 30, 2014. Cream Wedding Shawls Part 2. I have finished weaving the natural Tencel/Cotton shawls. They came out really well, but they are identical because I even though I tried changing wefts I wasn't able to find another weft that looked radically different. So, the new plan is for one shawl to stay the natural creamy colour. And the other one is going to be dyed, I think. Right now it is sitting in a pile waiting for me. I have an idea for it but we will see!

Dust Bunnies Under My Loom. Monday, June 29, 2015. Home Again Home Again Jiggity Jig Jig. I’ve been back from my trip to France and Spain for just over a week and I’m finally starting to decompress! We arrived home at 8 in the evening and by 2 the next day we had company arrive from New Zealand for a week! It was fun, but tiring. Michael and I spent time in France in both the Aquitaine and Languedoc regions; needless to say there was lots of wonderful wine, bread and charcuterie consumed! Then a long dri...

Dust Bunnies Under My Loom. Sunday, December 21, 2014. Crackle Weave - 8 Shaft Silk Scarf. After thinking that I’d woven all the hand painted silk warps I found yet another one! This scarf warp was painted 2/3 fuchsia and 1/3 moss green. Amazingly, they look fantastic together! I’ve threaded it with a very big crackle pattern on 8 shafts; one that. Ngaire has woven before. I love the interesting shape of the threading on the loom. I’ve also inadvertently sett the scarf too loose. Now that the scarf is do...

Dust Bunnies Under My Loom. Sunday, July 19, 2015. Six Shaft Crackly Weave - Purple Blot Scarf! After slew of visitors in the last few weeks I am finally getting my bum down on the weaving bench! I hauled out all of the 2/18 cotton I dyed last year and was staring at it for days and days without inspiration so I packed it away again and decided to weave a silk scarf definitely a comfort weave. Turns out I got 247 ends out of it! I’ve amended the original pattern to increase the ends, so I added an ...

Dust Bunnies Under My Loom. Friday, October 31, 2014. Black, Grey and Red Tea Towels -8 Shaft False Damask. It is that time again! For some reason every autumn I get the urge to do tea towels. WovenBeauty's best selling tea towels are these black and grey towels with a different accent colour each year, this year the colour is raspberry red. These tea towels are such a fun weave that I didn't get many photos of the process. But here are the pirns showing the colours that I used for the plaid borders.

Dust Bunnies Under My Loom: February 2015

Dust Bunnies Under My Loom. Monday, February 9, 2015. Designing at the Loom with a Raddle. I am working on some pretty spring coloured tea towels. They are mainly periwinkle blue with nine colourful stripes in pale blue, lilac, green and peach. But there was a little problem while pulling the warp. I ran out of the pretty green. I kept the edges the same but moved a peach stripe between the single green stripe. So the sequence is two green, peach, green, peach, green, peach and two green. To warp the bac...
