Back in the Yay: January 2011

Back in the Yay. Musings of life in the Bay after a 15 year absence. Tuesday, January 18, 2011. For hours worked in a week. I was (kind of) aiming for 80 hrs last week, but I fell a bit short - only 75 hours (in 7 days). It wasn't that bad, to be quite honest. Those 7 days went by rather quickly. There is NO down-time at work, EVERYONE is busy. It definitely helped get my mind off of things. Wednesday, January 12, 2011. Too Young, Too Soon. Rest in peace, Lily. Sunday, January 2, 2011. http://dtkawai.blogspot.com/2010/12/happy-one-month-giants.html
Back in the Yay. Musings of life in the Bay after a 15 year absence. Wednesday, December 1, 2010. Happy One Month, Giants! Wow, hard to believe it's been one month since the Giants won the World Series.and, my last post (WTF, it's December already? A few weeks ago, I finally watched the Championship Parade on Tivo. As a man, I'm comfortable saying this - I cried throughout the 4 hr Parade Special. Needless to say, the weekend was too short. Definitely, good times, though. Hanging out with old friends.

Scotch and Bourbon Review: Aberlour Abunadh – Review
http://scotch-bourbon.blogspot.com/2008/05/aberlour-abundah-15-review.html
Scotch and Bourbon Review. Sunday, May 4, 2008. Aberlour Abunadh – Review. I picked up a bottle of Aberlour Abunadh along with a small box of Cohibas in the duty-free shop at Charles de Gaulle airport in Paris. I had flown there to help out my company at a convention, and I was happy to be on my way back home with my hooch and my stogies as a memento. This should make for an interesting attraction at poker night. There was plenty left when I brought the scotch to poker night, and I made sure I didn’...

Scotch and Bourbon Review: Glenfiddich 12, 15, and 21 - Review
http://scotch-bourbon.blogspot.com/2008/03/glenfiddich-12-15-and-21-review.html
Scotch and Bourbon Review. Sunday, March 16, 2008. Glenfiddich 12, 15, and 21 - Review. What does aging do to scotch? According to the Glenfiddich web site. We could have also sampled an 18 year old. We didn’t. Neither did we venture into the 30, 40, or 50 year old, or any of the rare Glenfiddichs at this time. Even though I didn’t play as well as I could have in poker, I left the meeting of the gentleman’s scotch and sirloin club with the 15 year old in hand and a good understanding of what ...The libat...

Scotch and Bourbon Review: Booker's Bourbon - Review
http://scotch-bourbon.blogspot.com/2008/05/bookers-bourbon-review.html
Scotch and Bourbon Review. Tuesday, May 20, 2008. Booker's Bourbon - Review. What goes better with a slab of baby back ribs than fine Kentucky bourbon? How about three slabs, some baked beans, pulled pork and chicken and buckets of spicy BBQ sauce. That’s exactly how the gentleman’s scotch and poker club (GSPC) started our Sunday afternoon. By comparison, Booker's bourbon is woodier and less floral than Basil Hayden’s, although both are very smooth and enjoyable. The GSPC favored the Booker's f...So when...

Back in the Yay: Happy 2011!
http://dtkawai.blogspot.com/2011/01/happy-2011.html
Back in the Yay. Musings of life in the Bay after a 15 year absence. Sunday, January 2, 2011. Here's to starting off the new year with a new blog entry (since I've been lagging). Not much new going on. Just busy with work, and other issues that take up way more of my time than necessary. Issues that are too numerous and mind boggling to get into. All I can say is, why me? Since my last post (in a nutshell):. Bad news - work has been kicking my ass. And that commute sucks, big time. Art of the Drink.

Back in the Yay. Musings of life in the Bay after a 15 year absence. Saturday, October 30, 2010. 2nd Week of Work. 2 wks have gone by since I started my contract. However, this was my first 6-day week. 18 hrs O/T last week. It's not too bad. Things are hectic at work, time hella flies. I got my first paycheck on Fri. Wow, what a godsend. It felt good, like a sense of achievement. The taxes, on the other hand, suck ass. 38% of my income was withheld. Ouch. Saturday, October 23, 2010. Saturday, October 16,...
