Wednesday, April 20, 2011. Docent Training at the Fort Worth Nature Center. Why, wolf spiders, of course! Wolf spiders are my favorite spider. As far as spiders go, I think they are very beautiful, elegant, and intelligent. As seen in the photo above, they are also excellent mothers and carry their newly hatched young around with them to protect them during the spiderlings' first couple of weeks of life. That my enthusiasm left little room for nerves. Of course, our instructor didn't want things to be.

Friday, February 4, 2011. September 7, 1992 - February 4, 2011. Today has been such a sad day, trying to accept the reality of a life and home without Missy. For 18 years she has been a constant, familiar presence. Every house I have lived in, she occupied also. Every holiday celebrated, every storm weathered, she was a part of it. I will miss her sweet voice, her intelligent eyes, her curious mind and determined spirit. I'll miss you sweet Missy Lou. My Life is Good. February 7, 2011 at 9:14 AM.

Saturday, February 5, 2011. We sadly said goodbye to our precious 18-year-old cat, Missy, yesterday. On September 7, 1992, we saw her come into the world and take her first breath, and yesterday, at 11:00 in the morning, peacefully, on a soft, warm blanket as snow fell just outside the window, we saw her take her final breath. Ashlie and Toby were 4 and 3 years old when Missy was born, so they have few memories without her, and Missy was 5 when Jeremy was born, so he has never known life without her.
