Wednesday, August 03, 2005. Comrades Santo and Gopalan. I have always had a problem with the saying a picture is worth a thousand words. Somehow, it gives a sense that words are inferior. True, some pictures are indeed worth a thousand words. But are there not enough sentences in every literature of the world that even a thousand pictures can’t capture their magic. What images will equal the closing words of the hundred years of solitude? What image will stand up to the poetry of Neruda?
