So during the last days I spent some time looking at wonderful quilts in the web, just to get some inspirantion. Since it is my first attempt, I decided to get small. QUILTING IS MY PASSION. Tuesday, 16 September 2014. My kitchen garden gave me lots of satisfaction and harvest during this very short time since I started. Unfortunately on August 11th we have a very big landslid on our coast and my garden is in danger. There are only about 20 cm at one corner and the it falls down for 100m. Como podem ver os triângulos das bordas foram feitos em "Apliquê". Tentei fazer assim, mas não gostei do resultado. Teria que usar cola para obter um resultado que a meu ver não valeria tanto esforço. Como não gostei do Apliquê, parti então para o foundation. Vocês se lembram do freezer paper? Chegou a hora dele. Friday, March 29, 2013. Batting Practice - Take Two. Tried a mini quilt with different batting. This time I used Hobbs Heirloom Organic Cotton. If was really soft. The little quilt is definitely less stiff than attempt number one. But it may be because the quilting isn't as dense. I realized that my sewing machine REALLY needed to be serviced before I start the actual quilting journey, so I didn't do straight lines on the sashing like I was planning to. Wednesday, January 21, 2009. Wow, this took a long time to make! And waiting until this morning to do it didn't help.). It's not a hard block - just time consuming, so set aside a couple of hours for this one. Here's how it came by it's name:. This block name came from the way the blocks were originally identified – by number, as 1-1, 1-2, 1-3, 13-5, 13-6, etc. This particular block was 1-2 and "buckle my shoe" just followed.". Now I have to go see what 3-4 is called. Once again, a foundation pieced block.

Wednesday, January 21, 2009. This block is another simple foundation pieced one. Print or trace the block diagram onto foundation paper, number and cut apart sections as in the photo below. Foundation piece each section, following the numbering and trim all seam allowances to ¼". Sew the sections together, carefully lining up the seams. How easy was that? Thursday, March 26, 2009. Did you know that this is block number 102? Somewhere along the line I missed the fact that we've passed the 100 mark! I love teenie tiny foundation pieced blocks. Print or trace the block diagram onto foundation paper. IMPORTANT: You have to mirror the diagram for the log cabin section to turn out correctly. Number and cut out as in the photo. Tuesday, March 19, 2013. I'm trying to figure out which batting to use for my quilt. Yes, I'm getting ready to quilt her! I made a little sample using extra blocks and Hobbs Heirloom 100% Cotton Batting. I've realized that, no matter how soft and pliable the batting I choose is, because of all the seams and the denseness of the quilting, this quilt is probably still going to be pretty rigid and stiff. QUILTING IS MY PASSION. Thursday, 21 July 2016. It has been such a long time since I posted some news on my blog. Lots have happened meanwhile. I managed to go on with my project and only stopped for 2 weeks while my son was visiting the island. After that I chatched up and we already passed half way.
