Alas, it's the end of November. Normally, Kenai rides start with some kind of explosion in my brain muscle on Monday morning. I then work really hard to not bother Adam until Wednesday, if I can make it. The trip south provided enough intel for the brain muscle to land on boarding in Turnagain on Sunday.

Sunday, September 8, 2013. Arctic Valley Ride - 9.5.2013. For the last several months I've felt like I've been in a prolonged period of cabin fever. It started with a long period stuck on the boat in the Prince William Sound, and with rainy season now in full effect here in Anchorage I've been having a hard time breaking out of it. 9 km and 650 vertical meters later, I made it to the ski area, I turned off the gravel road and pushed/rode my bike up a steep trail towards the top of the lifts.

Great Land Journal from Stuckagain Heights. December 27, 2013. All About the Up. Skin up, ski down. With about 95% of the backcountry skiing time spent on the uphill part, we should enjoy it. The ski down is exhilarating, but the up track takes a long time. Trudging up the ski track seems to make the down ski seem so much better. The key for me to enjoy the up, is skining up at a pace maintainable for hours. So that I can. Look at the trail. The beauty of the trail is that it takes us where we must go.

So we came across this hike-n-raft loop on the web that starts in McCarthy with hiking in to the headwaters of the Lakina River in the Wrangell-St. Elias National Park and rafting the Lakina River out to the road, then hitching a ride or biking back to McCarthy, AK. Monday, June 22, 2015. Sheep Creek Packraft - 6.7.2015. I've wanted to do the Sheep Creek fly-in trip for a while now. But, making it happen has been a challenge. We had planned on doing it the previous weekend, but at the 3 PM the day before the pilot discovered that Crossover Lake was still frozen. Peering into the Kashwhitna River headwaters. Yay, not frozen! The next week brought cool temperatures and rain to Southcentral. When Cody landed on Crossover Lake on Friday it was 34 degrees and raining.

A couple years ago, in a season of lower snowfall, Cody and I went for a tour into Sidney Creek, a tributary to Archangel, and saw a striking line off the Sidney-side of Microdot. In January 2015, Cody and I booted through variable snow to the choke. Above us, we had supportable bullet proof snow in the choke, and higher yet, two notable ledges.
