Not entirely true, the cottonwood tree is of the poplar family. Poplars grow in Europe. Interestingly its the red pine of california which is credited with the thickest bark. Wood carving, dogs and fitevircomes. An attempt by me to run a blog. Friday, 25 November 2011. First an apology for neglecting this blog for almost a year. There isa reason,we went to Kracow for a holiday, when we disembarked my wife Janice collapsed on the runway. Then a series of collapsing till the last one on our return to Scotland. She spent 14days in the acute ward of the hospital. Since then the illness has not been identified so no treatment. She is on oxygen 24 hrs a day. Long Time No See!

As promised I'm getting back to some of the things which I haven't had time to post about, and surely Oslo is well worth a mention since I enjoyed a lovely trip there this summer. So, where to start? How about on the ramparts of the Akershus fort, with Mary waving the Shetland Flag. The view over the harbour is amazing:. The memorial reads (roughly translated): "They fought, they fell, they gave us all". OK, wipes away the tear that always comes when I see that memorial.

Auld Skuil
Multi Fuel Wood Burning Stove. Ashkirk School closed in 1992 and has been recently refurbished. The 'Auld Skuil' now offers accommodation for up to 4 guests. The Auld Skuil offers its own entrance on the groundfloor into the entrance hall with storage, a spacious lounge, bathroom, dining area and a bedroom with twin sleeping arrangements. A sprial staircase leads up to a bright airy mezzanine level with a king size double bed and terrific views of the surrounding countryside. All weather exercise yard.
