Life on the 4th floor. Wednesday, February 2, 2011. And then there was ICE. We got hit with a wintry mix last night. Snow with freezing rain, forecast to hit between 3am -6am. Subscribe to: Post Comments (Atom). Thought for the day:. Word collage from nearby monument. The last to leave. And then there was ICE. I am a life long artist who is exploring what it means to make art in a society that does not necessarily truly value art. I wonder, almost everyday, if being an artist is "worth it".

Life on the 4th floor: June 2015
http://lifeonthe4thfloor.blogspot.com/2015_06_01_archive.html
Life on the 4th floor. Friday, June 5, 2015. My grandparents wedding anniversary will be coming up soon. Married June 25th, 1930 in Our Lady Of Peace church, seen here on their honeymoon. They settled in Queens, N.Y. and had 2 sons. I have many good memories of their garden , mainly of their fruit trees:they had apples, peaches, mulberries and pears. There was a magnificent magnolia tree that filled with blooms in early spring and would smother the lawn with it's petals. We pay our respects throughout th...

Life on the 4th floor: December 2010
http://lifeonthe4thfloor.blogspot.com/2010_12_01_archive.html
Life on the 4th floor. Wednesday, December 22, 2010. In the outer boroughs of NYC there are many wonderful holidays scenes to behold each holiday season. I visited several streets in Dyker Heights this year -front yards filled with inflatable lawn ornaments, tons of lights and even several "live" Santa Clauses (how does a parent explain all those Santa Clauses? Attached are 2 examples of my most recent work:. Each year I am left with just one question : How do you spell "Hanukkah"? Night 2,3,4,5. My husb...

The Churches of New York XXV: Losses – Part II (With a Commemoration of the Restoration of Liturgical Latin in New York). Posted by Stuart Chessman. The procession wound its way outdoors before an audience sweltering in hundreds of cars backed up before the Holland tunnel entrance. Quite a few of their occupants pulled out cameras and video equipment as if some strange, primitive ceremony were being reenacted. Of the windows of Our Lady of Vilna (from Our Lady of Vilnius, NYC website). August 8th, 2016).

Life on the 4th floor: September 2010
http://lifeonthe4thfloor.blogspot.com/2010_09_01_archive.html
Life on the 4th floor. Sunday, September 26, 2010. Many days later , there is still much left to be done here in Queens, N.Y.-clean up wise. There have been many complaints that work has been slow and ,as a result, things here are not as safe as they should be. Branches dangle, trees and debrise blocks sidewalks-only really dangerous at night when it is hard to see. Local blogger Queens Crap has carried several of the stories and posted photos (here) as have the local newspapers. One of the saddest sight...

Life on the 4th floor: August 2010

Life on the 4th floor. Monday, August 2, 2010. What to do when "they" spell the name wrong on the birthday cake:. In yesterdays afternoon sun I bravely went forth to procure a yummy birthday cake for Ely. I spelled his name to the nice young lady at the bakery and assumed all was well. I even tipped her $1. for her handy work. Later that evening when I opened the box to place a lone candle on it (no need to find and light 47 right? 1 place candle strategically by the "i" so it is obscured. And now Mose A...

Life on the 4th floor. Thursday, February 17, 2011. The last to leave. If found, please return:. I've been told that , of all trees, an oak tree's leaves are the last to let go. They sit there, attached, through winter's storms and they are also the toughest to compost as they take the longest to break down. One small tree sits outside my kitchen window and last weekend I watched as leaves slowly took flight. Here is another tree on the block-still full of leaves on this almost SPRING like day. 7 Experie...
