Aviation Endeavours

Wednesday, April 10, 2013. Tailwheel rating: not as easy as it sounds! As I said a few weeks ago, I was planning on doing a tailwheel rating with Adrian over at the British Aerobatic Academy (@BritAeroAcademy). Well, since then, I have completed the rating on his Extra 200, G-EEEK, and what fun it was! First up was the task of getting into, and strapping into, the Extra - no easy feat, as Chris over at @studentpilotblog will attest! It also starts first time, unlike the C152s and PA28s I am accustomed to!

Aviation Endeavours : Why the blog?

http://aviationendeavours.blogspot.com/2013/01/why-blog.html

Wednesday, January 23, 2013. Hello, and to anyone who may be reading this, thank you! Having written for blogs in the past, this is the first time that I've ever had one myself, so bare with me whilst I figure out how everything works! Start my ATPLs - I shall be doing this via the modular routing with BCFT at Bournemouth Airport. Go to Florida and do some hour building - more in depth posts on this in the future. Get a tailwheel rating and maybe take a look into aerobatics. January 23, 2013 at 7:51 PM.

Aviation Endeavours : The first of my aims..

http://aviationendeavours.blogspot.com/2013/02/the-first-of-my-aims.html

Sunday, February 17, 2013. The first of my aims. In the first post of this blog, I mentioned that I warned to get a tailwheel rating this year. Well, thanks to Adrian over at the British Aerobatic Academy and Lauren from The Aerobatic Project, it looks like I will be able to achieve this very, very soon indeed. Having spoke to Adrian about it, I have made the choice to do it in his aircraft, the wonderful Extra 200 that is G-EEEK, based down in Little Gransden, Cambridgeshire. The first of my aims.

Aviation Endeavours : An Adventure..

http://aviationendeavours.blogspot.com/2013/02/an-adventure.html

Tuesday, February 12, 2013. Late last year, I attended a talk by Steve O'Bryan, the vice president of the F-35 integration and business development programme, at No. 4 Hamilton Place, London. This should have been a simple talk, some light refreshments and a chance to meet some new, and interesting, individuals. I did meet interesting individuals, and that in turn has led to interesting prospects. In the first post on this blog, I mentioned some snow, a few pilots, and an aircraft. Remember? Detail what ...

MikeOscar94: June 2013

http://mikeoscar94.blogspot.com/2013_06_01_archive.html

Wednesday, 26 June 2013. Its been a while. Sorry, I haven't been on here in nearly two months. I've spent the majority of my time with my head in books for my final A-level exams (I'm finally free! I studied A-levels in Geography, Biology and Computer Science, with an AS in Applied ICT. My foreign pilot validation is being completed by the South African Civil Aviation Authority as I write. Photo credited to Brian Spurr. If so, then we'll postpone until later in the month. No biggie. I'll keep you posted.

Friday, 19 April 2013. PPL Skills Test 19-04-13. 07:00am wakeup. Just how I like it. First thing I do is pick up my iPad. Hop on to aeroweather and check the TAFs in bed. Not looking too bad and outside seems a bit 50/50. I spend the morning being quite pessimistic, but plan my flight just I case and check the NOTAMs. Nothing to effect. Decent enough for me to overheat in the cafe's conservatory anyway! Interestingly, we were greeted on frequency by someone constantly saying on the radio "Tatenhill radio...

MikeOscar94: Air League Youth in Aviation Day 2013, Bicester Airfield

http://mikeoscar94.blogspot.com/2013/05/air-league-youth-in-aviation-day-2013.html

Sunday, 5 May 2013. Air League Youth in Aviation Day 2013, Bicester Airfield. Bicester Airfield is a sleepy ex-RAF airfield in Oxfordshire. Flight operations on the airfield began 102 years ago, where it was then inhabited by the Royal Flying Corps and the Royal Air Force. At one point it was home to RAF Bomber Command and most of the buildings on the airfield are found as they were left from WW2. Today only gliding operations take place with the resident Windrushers Gliding Club on site. Myself and a fe...

MikeOscar94: 2014!

http://mikeoscar94.blogspot.com/2014/02/its-been-while.html

Wednesday, 19 February 2014. Well, it's been a while. I should probably start by saying Happy New Year! So, my last blog post was just when I got back from my hour building trip in South Africa. A lot has changed since then. First of all I received my A-level results. which weren't so bad, I'm happy with them :-). So for the foreseeable future, this is where I am at, and it doesn't look too bad. I'll keep you updated :-). 4 October 2015 at 11:25. We currently offer reviews and price comparison on 100s of...

MikeOscar94: PPL Skills Test Revision

http://mikeoscar94.blogspot.com/2013/03/ppl-skills-test-revision.html

Sunday, 31 March 2013. PPL Skills Test Revision. So, yesterday I got a call from my flying instructor to ask if I wanted to go flying because he had a free slot. Of course I obliged! This was to be my last lesson with my FI before my skills test! We practiced PFLs (Precautionary Forced Landings, for those not in the know! And position fixing by using two VORs, TNT (Trent) and SHB (Shawbury). Weather was marginal in places, but overall quite good with excellent visibility. G-TALA was our steed for today!

MikeOscar94: Skills test and the British weather..

http://mikeoscar94.blogspot.com/2013/04/skills-test-and-british-weather.html

Thursday, 18 April 2013. Skills test and the British weather. Well, I had an attempt at my skills test on Sunday. Gusting 40 knots directly across the runway - brilliant. Luckily I managed to rebook it for Friday (tomorrow) and Saturday. Also, other big news! I GOT A CAR! I got my first car today - a 2005 Mini One Diesel 1.4 and I'm very proud of her.yet to think of a name though. Any way, it's now midnight and I'm sure I'll be up at 7am checking the TAFs over a cuppa. Subscribe to: Post Comments (Atom).
