Cows escape! Mixed in with the neighbour's herd... | aYearOnTheFarm.co.nz

http://www.ayearonthefarm.co.nz/2009/01/mixed-in-with-the-neighbours-herd

About "A Year On The Farm". Mixed in with the neighbour's herd. January 15, 2009. This is definitely not. The sort of thing you want to see on a hot summer's day; our cows wandering through a gap in the hedge to mingle in with the neighbour's herd! Our neighbour and us had to spend a couple of hours in the hot sun sorting through the herds and getting any strayers back onto the correct property. All-in-all it wasn't as bad as it could have been and was actually a good excuse for a chat. The bulls wouldn'...

http://www.ayearonthefarm.co.nz/2008/11/making-dulce-de-leche

About "A Year On The Farm". Making "dulce de leche". November 23, 2008. Living on a dairy farm there's one thing we have plenty of: milk! What can you do with plenty of milk? Well here's one thing: make. Sweet milk" Argentinian style. It's a delicious caramel-like spread that can be used on cakes, pastries or even toast. We went for the following mix:. 4-5 litres of whole milk. 13 kg of white sugar. 1 tablespoon of baking soda. A dash of vanilla. Don't let the mixture get too thick though because it will...

Waking up with sore fingers | aYearOnTheFarm.co.nz

http://www.ayearonthefarm.co.nz/2008/10/waking-up-with-sore-fingers

About "A Year On The Farm". Waking up with sore fingers. October 16, 2008. Over the last couple of weeks I've been waking up in the mornings with sore fingers - they ache a bit and I have trouble squeezing my hand into a tight fist. They recover farily quickly - within 10 or 20 minutes I forget they were even sore and they don't bother me at all during the day. For now it's not a problem - just something I'm wary of. But if things get worse a trip to the doctor might be in order. Click to add a comment ].

Grass cut for silage | aYearOnTheFarm.co.nz

http://www.ayearonthefarm.co.nz/2008/11/grass-cut-for-silage

About "A Year On The Farm". Grass cut for silage. November 8, 2008. Finally we have some nice fine weather after three weeks of almost constant drizzle, wind and greyness. This time it looks like the sun will stick around for a few days. That's great because we've had several paddocks of grass shut up ready to make silage. The weather can change very quickly around here so tomorrow it will be all go - getting those bales made and wrapped and ready for storage! Said "Silage Cutting" on 22-Jan-2009,.

About "A Year On The Farm". Related articles and blog posts. How does one get started in farming? It's much easier to get into the farming industry for those people that grew up on a farm - there are so many things that you just seem to pick up naturally by living on a farm. Yes, but how do I really get started? Ok, if you've decided that farming really is for you, then you either need to:. Start at the bottom with a farm assitant job. Or, purchase a small plot if you've got the resources to do so. Eithe...

A Year On The Farm | the story of our farm, season by season

A Year On The Farm. The story of our farm, season by season. March 20, 2013 by Julia. Spring has sprung, and farm life is busy. It has been busy for a while, really, with calving season now almost finished. It has been a good season, with only three losses so far and well over a hundred calves born. One mama who had twins last year– and nursed both– did it again! We are quite proud of that mama! Cocoa, the mama donkey. Sniff, sniff… got any hay in there? Rosemary and lemon balm. Sunset over the shed.

Simply put it is my dog in here favorite spot, soaking up the heat of an early morning sun as it crests the roofline of the house you cannot see. There is a lot going on in this seemingly simple painting but I will let you interpret it as you will. I again apologize for the poor quality photo. Corona In Her Favorite Spot".
