The Azzurri: March 2007
http://theazzurri.blogspot.com/2007_03_01_archive.html
Blog home of the Italian National Soccer team! Friday, March 30, 2007. Donadoni calm after win. Italian head coach Roberto Donadoni remained calm after the big victory over Scotland on Wednesday. Some critics called for his dismissal had the national team lost that match. The team's record in the Euro qualifiers is 3-1-1 with consecutive wins over Ukraine, Georgia and Scotland after starting off with a 1-1 tie to Lithuania and a 3-1 loss to France in September 2006. Donadoni happy with team's attitude.

The Azzurri: November 2006
http://theazzurri.blogspot.com/2006_11_01_archive.html
Blog home of the Italian National Soccer team! Thursday, November 30, 2006. I recently received a package from my cousin from Italy. In it were four items commemorating Italy's win in the World Cup. There were two fold out posters and two magazine/photo books. I wish I could share these with everyone or figure out some way of scanning and posting all of the pictures but there are just so many great shots. So here are a few samples. Enjoy! And thank you Mariella. Links to this post. Links to this post.

Blog home of the Italian National Soccer team! Saturday, September 23, 2006. Pagliuca sets the record. Veteran goalie Gianluca Pagliuca of Ascoli set the standard for the most games by a goalie when he played in his 571st match last week surpassing the legendary Dino Zoff. Pagliuca, who was the Azzurri goalie in the 1994 and 1998 World Cups, will turn 40 in December. On a personal note he was one of my favorites for the national side during the 1990's. New record for Gianluca. Links to this post. With a ...

Blog home of the Italian National Soccer team! Tuesday, October 24, 2006. Two of Italy's most well known players have minimized reports that link them to other clubs during the transfer period. Goalie Gianluigi Buffon has denied rumors that he is headed for Chelsea in England's Premier League, while Luca Toni has assured the Fiorentina faithful that he is staying in Firenze. Buffon not leaving for Chelsea. Posted by Tony Lanza @ 10/24/2006 12:12:00 PM. Links to this post. Monday, October 23, 2006. Also o...

Blog home of the Italian National Soccer team! Saturday, September 15, 2007. Italy gets it done in Ukraine. Facing a tough crowd in Kiev and a must-win situation, the Azzurri secured three valuable points as they defeated Ukraine 2-1 on September 12. Antonio DiNatale scored twice in the victory. The first tally gave Italy a 1-0 lead in heading into halftime. Ukraine would draw even at the 71st minute but DiNatale put the Italians on top for good with his second goal just 6 minutes later. Italy gained a m...

The Azzurri: July 2007
http://theazzurri.blogspot.com/2007_07_01_archive.html
Blog home of the Italian National Soccer team! Sunday, July 29, 2007. Two weeks ago, we visited New York City on our family vacation. As you may remember, I stayed in the area (Newark, NJ) for the 1994 World Cup game between Italy and Ireland but our only venture into the Big Apple was to see the Yankees play in the Bronx the night before. So seeing New York City proper has always been something I have wanted to do. As soon as I got there I felt like I was somewhere else, somewhere familiar. In the b...

The Azzurri: August 2007
http://theazzurri.blogspot.com/2007_08_01_archive.html
Blog home of the Italian National Soccer team! Wednesday, August 29, 2007. Azzurri buried by Hungarians in tune-up. The Azzurri stumbled through a uninspired friendly with Hungary on August 22nd. After taking a 1-0 lead on a goal early in the second half by Antonio DiNatale, the Italians surrendered three second half goals in within 15 minutes. They were without several key players including Gennaro Gattuso and the newly retired Francesco Totti and Alessandro Nesta. Links to this post. Links to this post.
