What is a Baboon Spider. Rediscovering a lost species. Visiting the Albany Museum. Use a piece of grass to 'tickle' spiders out of their burrows for photographing. A team of atlasers at work. Spiders make great subjects for photography. For legal and ethical reasons we cannot accept photos of spiders that are obviously taken in captivity for atlasing purposes. When you have finished photographing the spider you must place it back in its burrow or retreat. It may not go back willingly!

Science to understand our origins . . . Conservation to guarantee our future. Aboons and humans are closely related and share many behaviors, emotions, and ways of seeing the world. It is because of this affinity that baboons have often been models for human evolution. Learning about baboons will let you decide for yourself the ways that baboons and humans are similar - and the ways that we are different. Shirley Strum, Kenya, 2009.
