Base Set Calling: Rain Delay
http://basesetcalling.blogspot.com/2013/04/rain-delay.html
Come in card collector, this is Base Set calling, come in card collector. Thursday, April 11, 2013. Rain Day, Rain Day, oh Good Lord it's a Rain Day. You don't play with your baseball cards? Too bad for you. They are for kids, you know. Gotta get those kids hooked on gambling as soon as possible, so they can step up and buy lottery tickets and support all us old farts. Do-rag baseball card came along this year. Now that would be a terrible Frankenset; I'll leave that to the NFL collectors. FYI there is a...

Base Set Calling: New Pack!
http://basesetcalling.blogspot.com/2014/12/new-pack.html
Come in card collector, this is Base Set calling, come in card collector. Tuesday, December 2, 2014. So I bought a pack of baseball cards. Yeah, yeah, so did you, and you, and you, but not Nǐ. Over there in China, that one is just a web crawler trolling for -? I wonder what I would have to type to generate a bookmark over there in the People's Republic? Anyhow, see if you notice anything new about this pack:. Not to worry, my friends, baseball card collecting has gone on as usual here at the Base Set bas...

Base Set Calling: January 2015
http://basesetcalling.blogspot.com/2015_01_01_archive.html
Come in card collector, this is Base Set calling, come in card collector. Saturday, January 17, 2015. Phoning It In #4. I started to like an insert set this year; this surprised me quite a bit. I mentioned it when I pulled the first card, featuring Gregory Polanco. There was a certain painterly effect to the image on the card. Everything gets all soft and fuzzy, rather than harshly pixelated. Almost like the card is hand-colored. Or this card, that I will be keeping in a mini-collection:. I even thought,...

From An Unlikely Source!: Getting around to Allen & Ginter's
http://fromanunlikelysource.blogspot.com/2014/07/getting-around-to-allen-ginters.html
From An Unlikely Source! Monday, July 28, 2014. Getting around to Allen and Ginter's. Long time, no type. Well, here at least. I still type all the time (some would say too much! Including a fair amount of card posts. But since the pack of cards I got and am writing about now contained no Padres, now seemed like a good time to dust off the old cardblog. I just made a Just Commons order the other day that included several non-Padres, so my next hiatus shouldn't be as long. Ever since the Rangers mothballe...

From An Unlikely Source!: Black Sunday
http://fromanunlikelysource.blogspot.com/2014/10/black-sunday.html
From An Unlikely Source! Sunday, October 19, 2014. Since the Royals and Giants are this year's World Series participants, that was a good enough reason to me to do a couple of posts of cards of Padres manager Bud Black from his playing days with each team. Both posts are linked below. October 13, 2016 at 2:40 AM. Nice post, keep sharing! Some of the best mens shoes available here. Subscribe to: Post Comments (Atom). From An Unlikely Source! From An Unlikely Source!: October 2013
http://fromanunlikelysource.blogspot.com/2013_10_01_archive.html
From An Unlikely Source! Sunday, October 27, 2013. It's still Bip Roberts's fiftieth birthday on the west coast, so I'm sneaking this post in right under the wire. I also did a post about Bip over at Gaslamp Ball earlier today. It's a card post; I picked out 10 cards of him with the Padres. Ten, of course, because of his uniform number. Since Bip is pictured here with the Reds, that gives me a legitimate segue into talking about Nacho Grande's Blogger Bracket Challenge. Thursday, October 24, 2013.

From An Unlikely Source!: A couple additions to my Ball Four collection
http://fromanunlikelysource.blogspot.com/2014/10/ball-four-seattle-pilots-cards.html
From An Unlikely Source! Wednesday, October 15, 2014. A couple additions to my Ball Four collection. I don't collect much aside from Padres and Joey Cora, but one side collection I have is of guys who were mentioned in my favorite book ever, Ball Four. I took a look at Peterson's Wikipedia page. To double-check the date of the swap, and found a couple interesting bits of trivia I had no idea about:. I really should make note of every player mentioned in the book next time I start it from the beginning...
