Channeling Green Acres' Lisa Douglas one pancake at a time. Fit Girl’s Guide. Rose’s Bread Bible. Rose’s Melting Pot. March 4, 2015. March 4, 2015. I have very definite ideas about how focaccia should look and taste. I’ve grown up on this bread. It’s hard-coded into my memory banks, coloring with fragrant deliciousnesses my memories of visiting Golden Boys Pizza in San Francisco. Order with a San Pellegrino and you have yourself Paradise. So I dutifully made my list and set off with my poor husband in tow.

Channeling Green Acres' Lisa Douglas one pancake at a time. Fit Girl’s Guide. Rose’s Bread Bible. Rose’s Melting Pot. February 18, 2015. February 19, 2015. The idea of bread-making has always filled me with two emotions – fascination and utter terror. Every time I proof yeast, I worry that I might be accidentally summoning an army of zombie minions. Which I guess wouldn’t be too bad if they looked like the minions from Despicable Me. Rose’s Cloud Nine Crunchies? To get in on the baking action. But I have...

Rose's Alpha Bakers: November 2014
http://rosesalphabakers.blogspot.com/2014_11_01_archive.html
Sunday, November 30, 2014. December 1, 2014. How can I make you understand the incredible deliciousness that is the Kouign Amann? Let me try by giving you the reaction of my co-workers when I brought some to work. "Oh, look, Marie stopped at that fancy patisserie in her neighborhood and brought us some treats." "No, you did not make these. I don't believe it." Because they kind of do look pretty professional, don't they? Mise en Place: Note the expensive French butter. It's not necessary to have Fren...

She Bakes the Cake: Lemon Jammies
http://shebakesthecake.blogspot.com/2015/06/lemon-jammies.html
She Bakes the Cake. Rose's Heavenly Cakes to be precise. Wednesday, 3 June 2015. I am yet to find making cookies the kind of mediation that other bakers enjoy. To me, there are too many steps to arrive at the end result, particularly when you end up sandwiching them together. I much prefer these type of cookies when they are produced by someone other than me. This dough went through a number of steps, none of which I can remember - it really is time you bough Rose's book, if you haven't already. What a g...

She Bakes the Cake. Rose's Heavenly Cakes to be precise. Wednesday, 3 June 2015. Memory tells me that these were a quick and easy bake and a chewy, meringue like macaroon type cookie/biscuit. I can't find any photos to evidence my memory. So these will have to go on the "bake again" list. No great hardship given the opening comment. 4 June 2015 at 02:39. 5 June 2015 at 15:57. Rose's Melting Potters: March 2016

Cooking along with Rose Levy Beranbaum's Melting Pot Cookbook. Sunday, March 6, 2016. All-American French Toast with Raspberry Sauce. French toast, photo courtesy of Elle. February brought us Valentine's Day, which means all things sweet, lovely, and of course, red! It was a delicious lazy morning treat for Elle's family (she used honey-sweetened ricotta instead of the yogurt) and Vicki thought it was a sweet treat, perfect to have on Valentine's Day. The Trellis French Roasted Garlic Soup. Sharon also m...

Rose's Melting Potters: The Trellis French Roasted Garlic Soup

Cooking along with Rose Levy Beranbaum's Melting Pot Cookbook. Sunday, March 6, 2016. The Trellis French Roasted Garlic Soup. Soup in a bread bowl, photo courtesy of Vicki. What a way to kick off the inaugural month of the Cook-Along! We all had great success with this decadent, hearty soup from Rose's cookbook. Made with oven-roasted garlic, leeks, potato, and several other yummy ingredients, it's a sure-fire hit should you choose to make it. Had never cooked with leeks - or roasted garlic!

Here’s the photographic evidence of my latest foray into RLB baking :. Big ball of dough. I had some extra almonds, and decided to add them in at the last minute. Little round balls of buttery goodness almost ready for the oven. Now they’re really ready. In deference to the camera, I used a glass to flatten them, instead of my (impeccably clean) fingers. The finished product. My family ate them, but still wanted ice cream for dessert. I’ll chalk it up to our heat wave. July 21, 2015. I was looking in an ...

Proscuitto Ring | Pancake-Croissants

Channeling Green Acres' Lisa Douglas one pancake at a time. Fit Girl’s Guide. Rose’s Bread Bible. Rose’s Melting Pot. July 1, 2015. July 1, 2015. One thing I really enjoy most about Rose’s. Is that there is such variety! Rose’s Proscuitto Ring, a recipe she put together after speaking with the original NY bakery from which she first tasted it, was stuffed full of three kinds of meaty goodness, plus lard and bacon fat (or butter) for good measure. But, in for a penny, right? I decided to dive in to the re...
