A Napa Writer's Open Door. By Patsy Ann Taylor. December 10, 2011. What was once my future is now my past. Writing Memoir lets me relive parts of my life. The well-meaning weren’t always right. Had I obeyed, how would I have known the thrill of swinging with my knees locked around a tree branch? Jumping off the playhouse roof, throwing rocks and hitting what I aimed for. Sometimes blood was involved. Mine or my brother’s. Bruises, sprained ankles, dirty knees and elbows, ripped hems....Reading my aunt...

A Napa Writer's Open Door. By Patsy Ann Taylor. December 25, 2011. Coffee perking in the chrome pot. Makes waking early bearable. Scents of oak and lemon fire wood. Compete with tinsel wrapped pine. Since first light our kids have waited. To hear the crinkle of holiday wrap. Shreds of tissue drift like confetti. Just what I wanted. Later, cinnamon cake. Fresh from the oven. Stirs up hunger we calmed. Dishes rattle as we pour a second cup. Cream and sugar too. It’s Christmas, live it up. Xochi E. Dixon.
