A beader's life

Thursday, 13 August 2015. Lavender and English Paper Piecing. Last Saturday we went to the New Forest Lavender Farm. As it was such a warm day we went into the tearooms for some refreshment. As well as a range of cakes and snacks they sell lavender shortbread, lavender cordial, lavender tea and lavender lemonade. All of the cakes are homemade by the owner and her two daughters. We decided to sample the lavender shortbread. It tasted as good as it looks! I haven't decided what I am going to make with them...

A beader's life: Hello, remember me?

http://beaderslife.blogspot.com/2013/01/hello-remember-me.html

Friday, 4 January 2013. Hello, remember me? However, things are improving. Work is not so hectic and I am feeling better, so with OH's encouragement, I am posting again. The beginning of December saw a significant landmark for me - my 50th Birthday! As you can see the hotel room was very grand, with four poster bed and views across bath to the Abbey. The Christmas market was being held that weekend and it gave me the opportunity to do some Christmas shopping. Bath is such a lovely place to visit. Wha...

A beader's life: August 2012

http://beaderslife.blogspot.com/2012_08_01_archive.html

Monday, 6 August 2012. Time Off (Part Two). In my last post I promised to tell you more of our adventures over the past few weeks. One evening OH and myself went to explore Knowlton Church and Earthworks. This is situated near Verwood, a short drive from our home in Bournemouth. It is a ruined medieval church built within a Neolithic henge. People have been using this site for worship for over 2500 years. It is a short level walk from the Arlington over Pultney Bridge to the centre of Bath. And of course...

A beader's life: September 2011

http://beaderslife.blogspot.com/2011_09_01_archive.html

Sunday, 25 September 2011. This Saturday we went to the Creative Stitches. It was hot and a little crowded but it was much easier to get around and see everything. Last year I only saw about a quarter of the stalls at Ally Pally before having to give up in defeat. I bought a few things - some more cables for my Knit Pro Interchangeable needles, some black beads, a kit for a beaded necklace from Spellbound Beads. And a really interesting book called Treasured Notions. Saturday, 17 September 2011. Artists ...

A beader's life: November 2011

http://beaderslife.blogspot.com/2011_11_01_archive.html

Sunday, 20 November 2011. This Friday M (aka 'A Girl in Winter') and I took part in a craft fair to raise money for Children in Need. For non-UK readers this is a huge national fundraising event, which this year has raised over £26 million for children's charities. The fair took place at work and proved to be a great success. M provided some beautiful handmade Christmas cards and I donated some. Jewellery. There were a variety of other stalls selling cakes, Amaryllis. Wednesday, 9 November 2011. Work has...

A beader's life: June 2011

http://beaderslife.blogspot.com/2011_06_01_archive.html

Monday, 13 June 2011. I hit a bit of a brick wall about 6 months ago where my beading is concerned. I am not really sure why it happened. For the last 5 years I have been completely absorbed by it but perhaps I just needed to take a break and recharge my batteries. I think that I am now working through the beaders. During my City and Guilds and NCFE. I also have a couple of large lever arch files full of beaded samples with scribbled notes and instructions. These have proved absolutely invaluable. Write ...

Living with arthritis: Self belief

http://arthropy.blogspot.com/2012/04/self-belief.html

Monday, 9 April 2012. I haven't posted for quite a long time. That is due to a number of things. Life has been very busy and it has taken all my energy just to get through the day. I honestly haven't felt like writing. I have had a couple of flair ups since Christmas and I am in the middle of one at the moment. I had arranged to go to the Vintage Fair in Boscombe. Living with arthritis: August 2012

http://arthropy.blogspot.com/2012_08_01_archive.html

Saturday, 11 August 2012. I was shocked to see how long it is since I posted here. Part of the reason is that I have been feeling so well. I suppose I was almost afraid to jinx it by writing about it. Stupid huh? OH is infinitely patient with me as always. He is very energetic and it must be frustrating walking with me sometimes as I just can't keep up with him. He now moderates his pace and will offer me his hand or arm when I am really struggling. Living with arthritis: Winter blues

http://arthropy.blogspot.com/2011/11/winter-blues.html

Wednesday, 9 November 2011. After quite a long period of not feeling too bad I am experiencing an arthritis flair up. I think it was inevitable. Life has not been too much fun recently and the stress has finally taken its toll. As I mentioned in my last post work has been incredibly stressful for the last 6 weeks. I have been working in the evenings and at weekends just to keep on top of things. 9 November 2011 at 14:56. I can understand the frustration of working harder for the same money. I feel th...

Living with arthritis: August Blues!

http://arthropy.blogspot.com/2015/08/august-blues.html

Thursday, 13 August 2015. This is my first post for a very long time. I have been lucky for quite a while. I have been relatively OK with the occasional flare up. These have been easy to manage, usually settling down very quickly when I take Naproxen. However, recently my luck seems to have run out! Sorry to end on that negative note. Hopefully this bad flare up will end very soon! Subscribe to: Post Comments (Atom). I live in th UK and I have two blogs 'A Beader's Life' follows my creative pursuits whil...

Living with arthritis: The calm before the storm

http://arthropy.blogspot.com/2011/09/calm-before-storm.html

Saturday, 17 September 2011. The calm before the storm. I have been going through quite a good patch recently. Just a little hip and knee pain. My ankle was feeling OK too until this afternoon when someone kicked it by accident .(Why is it whenever you have a sore foot, knee, arm etc. someone always knocks you in the place that hurts the most? Stress is my main enemy, as it is in most auto-immune illnesses. Recently my stress levels have been off the scale! 25 September 2011 at 01:44.
