Adventures of Rebecca in Turkey: The Longest Day Ever?

http://beccainturkey.blogspot.com/2009/07/longest-day-ever.html

Adventures of Rebecca in Turkey. Wednesday, July 15, 2009. The Longest Day Ever? 10:45 pm in Istanbul on July 14, 2009. When we left the Chamber of Commerce/Resort Spa, we headed to the Darussafaka School for orphaned children. It was really something. The director led us on a tour of the school and while there were very few children there, it was evident that they are doing some really great things at that campus. The director was from Oklahoma City! Factoid: Turks introduced coffee to the Western world.

Becca In Transit | A blog about traveling, not traveling, drinking tea, and eating. Occasionally involves a cat.

A blog about traveling, not traveling, drinking tea, and eating. Occasionally involves a cat. What Made You Want to Travel? What made you want to travel? For me, it was learning about the Loch Ness Monster. In the middle of a childhood defined by fiction books, I distinctly remember sitting at a table in the back of my third-grade classroom, looking at the famous surgeon’s photo. In a book, and realizing this was a place that really existed (even if maybe the monster did not). Continue reading →. Yep, I’...

Wednesday, March 19, 2008. 1) An Elephant’s gestation period is 22 months. 2) Hippos are surprisingly dangerous. Two fishermen were killed by a hippo two months ago in the fishing village that we saw on our boat ride. The semester's flying by. It's already Spring Break at Messiah and for me, I have a month left with my host family before our trip to Rwanda. It's going to be really hard to leave but for now, i'm trying to focus on enjoying every minute. Tuesday, February 19, 2008. Have a great two weeks,.

I was born and raised in west Tennessee. I have always been interested in the arts so that led me to pursue a degree in art at East Tennessee State University. I was drawn to this University because of the art department’s amazing facilities and the beauty of the Appalachian mountain range within sight of campus.
