Death, despair and biscuits
Belgian Waffle: November 2014
http://www.belgianwaffling.com/2014_11_01_archive.html
Death, despair and biscuits. We'll Always Have Paris. Thursday, 27 November 2014. Forty days: Pt 40 (Out of Office). I am off. Wheeeeee! Back soon and I promise not to just vanish. Terrifying metal box of death permitting. Does anyone know of any good relics in Venice? Because it's not a holiday for me without a shrivelled finger in a jewelled box. Restaurant or other recommendations most welcome too, but fingers are the priority. Wednesday, 26 November 2014. The little book of beautiful plates. This say...
Belgian Waffle: UNCLEAN
http://www.belgianwaffling.com/2014/12/unclean.html
Death, despair and biscuits. We'll Always Have Paris. Sunday, 14 December 2014. Oh god. Thank goodness I'm a self-employed introvert who isn't invited to any Christmas parties because I literally don't think I can leave the house in this state. I have one of these. Ew, ew and EW) and. Is it for your mum). Er, non. Then he told me he had a magical remedy I couldn't tell anyone about that would save me from surgery. On further enquiry this remedy proved to be 4 homeopathic powders. Is there any alternative?
Belgian Waffle: Everything I Read in 2015
http://www.belgianwaffling.com/p/reading.html
Death, despair and biscuits. We'll Always Have Paris. Everything I Read in 2015. Marina Lewycka - The Lubetkin Legacy. Helen Simpson - Cockfosters. I want to say something like "deceptively simple" but it's horribly corny. I love Helen Simpson's voice - she really knows what people sound like and what makes them tick - and this collection, about ageing, really, is as deft and as humane and tender as ever. "Berlin" was my favourite. Catherine Lacey - Nobody is Ever Missing. Joseph Stark - If I Should Die.
Belgian Waffle: You aftoo clean your theets
http://www.belgianwaffling.com/2014/12/you-aftoo-clean-your-theets.html
Death, despair and biscuits. We'll Always Have Paris. Wednesday, 10 December 2014. You aftoo clean your theets. I am waiting for something in order to get on with some work, so I will use the time (semi) productively here. I don't have much to say, I'm in deep hibernation and brain activity is limited to the odd flicker around good telly, chocolate biscuits and working out where I could house a Dartmoor pony. House an at-risk Dartmoor pony? Things I have learned as a result of my brief episodes of helico...
Belgian Waffle: December 2014
http://www.belgianwaffling.com/2014_12_01_archive.html
Death, despair and biscuits. We'll Always Have Paris. Friday, 19 December 2014. First things first - my eye is fine. It - ew, sorry - sort of exploded. Painfully on Sunday and has been steadily improving since. The cold sore is not improving but mainly because I can't leave it alone. If I continue to recover at this rate, I may be able to appear in public without a paper bag over my head by Christmas. Wehey! That may be the only thing that is improving. Other factors:. I am so jealous. School for parents...

Lola Life: What I've been reading
http://dietitianlola.blogspot.com/2015/07/what-ive-been-reading.html
Random thoughts and doings that seem appropriate for public viewing. Monday, 20 July 2015. What I've been reading. The Memoirs of Sherlock Holmes. By Sir Arther Conan Doyle. Narrated by Simon Vance. We are drawn into 19th-century London - hansom cabs, train rides, and foggy nights - where Sherlock Holmes astutely solves the most complex and perplexing cases of the day.". The Boys from Brazil. Joy in the Morning. By P G. Wodehouse. Narrated by Jonathan Cecil. This was very disconcerting to read. It is...
Lola Life: I need to calm down
http://dietitianlola.blogspot.com/2015/07/i-need-to-calm-down.html
Random thoughts and doings that seem appropriate for public viewing. Wednesday, 15 July 2015. I need to calm down. Peckover House, August 2014. Here is a list of things that I wanted to blog about but which happened too long ago for me to even remember what was involved or what I did:. Getting final accreditation as a DESMOND educator despite not meeting the assessment criteria for the session on physical activity. Meeting some of the Research, Development and Innovation Team at work and getting a bit en...
Lola Life: January 2015
http://dietitianlola.blogspot.com/2015_01_01_archive.html
Random thoughts and doings that seem appropriate for public viewing. Tuesday, 27 January 2015. King's Lynn, August 2014. Every so often, I spend a week over the New Year holiday period with a group of friends at a large property somewhere in the UK (although one year we were in Ireland) - I have reported on this before. Sunday, 18 January 2015. Nothing much to report. Peckover House, August 2014. Said one patient. "That's right," I replied. "You have to decide for yourself what you're going to do...Cornw...

On my recent trip to Germany, I had the pleasure of staying in student housing, so natürlich. I had to purchase some supplies. I went to my local Rewe. And bought the selection above. I have to say I was pleasantly surprised that food in Germany was fairly inexpensive. We always hear that everything is so much more expensive in Europe, but not true. German food was much less expensive than in the US. Well, I can tell you they named this TP correctly. Ja in German means, “yes.”. The world may never know.

Like most would-be bloggers, I spent a long time building up the nerve to start a blog. Being a perfectionist at heart, the fear of failure paralyzed me. What should I write, who would. I mean read it, who would follow it, who would care? Well, welcome anyway, and enjoy the ride. This is really my ride…I don’t own a car.). This entry was posted in Tropics. July 12, 2014. Der Kürbis – Pumpkin. Der Kürbis – the pumpkin. Die Kürbisse – the pumpkins. It’s pumpkin season here so a trip to the local Pumpkin Patch was a must. Last weekend, we spent a leisurely hour oohing and aahing over the huge selection on pumpkins, squash, apples, honeys, maple syrups and other wonderful fall delights. It was really fun to see the kids enjoying the crisp fall weather. Yup, the little thug bastard got our display. I stalked him for about three days and finally got a pic of his little mug.

A lot has happened since my last post. I showed you my wheels, described my fears about blogging and basically bragged about my tropical locale. Well, things have changed. In December, I moved from tropical bliss to winter bliss. I was here…. Then about 18 hours later I was here…. 8230; and here. Any big transitions in your life? All pictures are my own unless otherwise stated. Feel free to use but please link back to my site if you do. This entry was posted in Chicago. April 28, 2015.

Death, despair and biscuits. We'll Always Have Paris. Sunday, 11 February 2018. A lovely lady called Chirping Norton (well, I assume that isn’t actually her name, but) asked me very kindly if I would update the blog and then she said she’d send me some stuff from New Zealand if I did and being an acquisitive weasel I agreed so HERE WE ARE. Shouldn’t there be a bit of warning? Apart from the work and the wrinkling, not much has been happening. There has been some fairly full-on parenting for lo, teena...

July 17, 2012 · 7:54 pm. The official Ginger Beer Initiation Ceremony (oh, and exams). Thankfully exams were okay – a lot less stressful than last year, especially where French was concerned. My teacher was great, plus I had friendly classmates who were willing to help out with lending dictionaries and offering essay-writing advice. Without my French buddies I would’ve been stressed out of my brain and wouldn’t be smiling in a single one of these photos. So thanks guys! July 17, 2012 · 3:34 pm. George ar...
