Coop Housing since 1985. Criteria for Cooperative Member Ownership. The criteria to be an eligible applicant for membership are:. You must have an excellent credit/payment history. Failure to pay coop-related fees may have an impact on the financial well-being of the other members. Your total household income must be less than 110% of the median income for a family in Suffolk County. In 2014 this amount was $103,840. This preserves the moderate income nature of the building.

Coop Housing since 1985. You are responsible for paying your carrying charges and other fees on time. While you are a homeowner in a very real sense you are also a tenant of the cooperative, and all the members of the cooperative depend on everyone meeting their financial obligations to maintain the building. The Board has a fiduciary duty to the membership to enforce penalties up to and including eviction for non-payment of your carrying charges.

Coop Housing since 1985. How We Own Our Homes. Members of the Belmont Chambers are shareholders of the Belmont Chambers Cooperative Corporation. The shares are accompanied by a proprietary lease (also known as an Occupancy Agreement) for a particular unit. Belmont Chambers is a limited equity cooperative. Limited Equity means that the resale price of the unit is governed by a formula that is designed to insure the long term affordability of the building.

Site Visit May 2013. The August Belmont Memorial Chapel has commanded a dominant presence at the Island Cemetery in Newport, since its construction in 1886. Commissioned by Mr. and Mrs. August Belmont, Sr. The chapel is a memorial to their daughter Jane Pauline Belmont who died at the young age of 19. Given as a gift, the chapel’s original purpose was to serve as a site to hold committal services for those being buried at the Island Cemetery. Designed in the gothic revival style.
