Ben on a Bike. Category Archives: North Carolina. My plan was to reach Black Mountain, NC by late afternoon and find my way to the herbal conference by dusk and meet up with friends. I didn’t know what I wanted to do there in the days afterward, but riding the Blue Ridge Parkway and doing some hiking was top of the list. I hadn’t quite realized though how. The Southeast Wise Women Herbal Conference was going to be and when I got about two hours away in Greenville, SC I heard from Fran that it was a no go.

Ben on a Bike. The next day I hiked out slowly and didn’t see another person until my exit trail abruptly ended on a road. The park was actually quite busy being a Saturday. I realized walking back to my bike that I must have been pretty lucky to have even scored the campsite I did. Super eerie at night. Lots of balance beams. Here you go dad. I found you another one! Next stop Black Mountain! Hostel in the Forest. In fact, art was everywhere! Even in the bathrooms, which were all composting toilets.

Ben on a Bike. All posts by Ben. I have gotten really behind on posts so here’s a quick update while I catch up:. I stayed at Matt Hunter’s place in Narcoosse, FL for a night. I stayed at the Lawrence’s for a few days in Winter Garden helping with tropical fruit trees and the garden. I spent some time with family and friends. I drove up through Georgia and the Carolinas over several days. Hostel in the Forest. I spent almost a month in Asheville, NC and at an intentional community in Black Mountain.
