I Would Walk 500 Miles: Driving... Well, trying to
http://betsys500miles.blogspot.com/2014/05/driving-well-trying-to.html
I Would Walk 500 Miles. Continuing the camino of life! Driving. Well, trying to. Before I arrived in Ireland I had two thoughts about driving here:. 1 It won't be that bad driving on the left. It will be relatively easy to pick up. (And to the people who told me this,I would like to tell you I don't appreciate your lies). 2 I'm a pretty decent driver. I haven't had an accident since high school, no speeding tickets in years, and I've driven successfully in other countries. You can opt out of insurance bu...

I Would Walk 500 Miles: Belize to Novazza!
http://betsys500miles.blogspot.com/2014/06/belize-to-novazza.html
I Would Walk 500 Miles. Continuing the camino of life! The week in Belize was perfect. I was able to get to the beach, visit with friends, and most importantly see the students I taught four years ago finally graduate! What a beautiful celebration it was watching the kids graduate years of working, praying, and struggling. The kids were all smiles, radiating joy on Parents’ Night and the day of Graduation. I Would Walk 500 Miles: My Italian Family
http://betsys500miles.blogspot.com/2014/06/my-italian-family.html
I Would Walk 500 Miles. Continuing the camino of life! Seriously, my Italian host family ROCKS! They are so welcoming and down to earth. I am so blessed to be able to be a part of their family for two weeks. He is very witty and funny and so loving to his wife and daughters. Just think of the father from the movie Life Is Beautiful, that's Sandro. After dinner my second night, Sandro brought out the guitar and the family joined him in singing a song dedicated to me :). After one of our great discussions ...

I Would Walk 500 Miles: English Camp
http://betsys500miles.blogspot.com/2014/07/english-camp.html
I Would Walk 500 Miles. Continuing the camino of life! English Camp was pretty much what I expected it to be. Communicated with the children was difficult, but not too bad. We played a lot of charades, especially when explaining directions for games. I taught the younger students, ages 6-9. Thankfully all my students were 8 or 9. My co-teacher, Bill, taught the older students, ages 10-12. We were teaching in a small Catholic school in Cislago. Martina, Bill, and I. The meal is served in courses! After sc...

I Would Walk 500 Miles. Continuing the camino of life! The more I read about this pilgrimage the more I realize how very unprepared I am! Lucky for me I have a laid back pilgrimage partner and we'll be fine figuring it out as we go. I've been researching online and talking to people I know who have walked the Camino in the past. Here's my packing list for what will be in my bag:. 1 pair of pants. 3 pairs socks and underwear. Safety pins and sewing kit. Moleskin and athletic tape. And Happy Independence D...

I Would Walk 500 Miles. Continuing the camino of life! But that's okay, because that's what I signed up for! Here's what I learned today:. 1 Irish people are nice. 2 Hiking is miserable rainy, windy, temps in the 30s. Here's what I'm thankful for:. 2 Having my laundry washed and dried for $2.70e (did I mention the rain got in my bag and almost every article of clothing was wet? Here are the pics from day 1. Pictures from the first two hours hike from saint jean. Santiago 765km, HERE WE GO! Here is the st...

http://betsys500miles.blogspot.com/2013_10_16_archive.html
I Would Walk 500 Miles. Continuing the camino of life! WARNING: there are photos of my feet below. It's part of the facts of life on the Camino. Those of you disgusted by my feet should consider yourself warned. We set out this morning thinking we'd only go half the distance we originally planned because we were in such awful shape at the end of yesterday. But halfway to Viana we felt pretty good and decided we could make it the whole way, it was a short day anyway, only 12 miles. Here Emily is talking t...
