Another interesting excercise: MapTz a GAE-hosted service to enhance Google Maps. The rains continue, actually it is almost. Coming down here this morning. This week spent quite some time to develop another tiny service to solve a single problem, MapTz. The problem was that in Zipiko. We often need the timezone.

My own flying adventures and other paragliding news from Finland. Another long dry run. For me it was another day in the sick bow but for those pilots that were fit the task committee and the weather conspired with a very difficult 100 km course. The forecast predicted stronger winds, drier air and high thermal tops. And indeed the few clouds that were seen early on dried out soon, demanding pilots to fly in the blue. My own flying adventures and other paragliding news from Finland. Arska flies 303 km! As reported a few days back. Sahlström flew an astonishing 303 km. On Thursday 16 May. Here some more details from Arska (as reported on the forum. The club of Paragliders of Southern Finland). In the evening of Wed 15 May Arska suggested that a group of pilots would get together in the morning at the Oripää airfield. Arska reports that conditions looked good. They were strong for Finland, the best ones averaged 6 m/s.

We've endured the long cold winter, did some flying in southern and exotic locations, and now we're ready, no make that eager! Long XC flights that are expected in spring time Finland. My own flying adventures and other paragliding news from Finland. Finnish mid-winter thermal right above the frozen sea. I meanwhile pressed the bar to glide upwind to what seemed a thermal possibility. And indeed I was rewarded by an unexpectedly good thermal, that took me up at some 2 m/s, which peaks of 3 m/s. The string wind made me drift quickly back towards Estonia, so quite soon had to leave the thermal that by now had formed a nice little cumulus cloud high above me. I uploaded the short flight.

My own flying adventures and other paragliding news from Finland. Just returned home from the Pre-Worlds. Huge thanks to all the rescue and medical people and the pilots who top-landed; you were all wonderful. Now, 6 days later, I'm back home and after a visit to the local health care centre relieved from the plaster and with permission to try to walk, gradually.
