Poet Educator Editor Collaborative Artist. Katharine Whitcomb was born in Appleton, Wisconsin, and earned her B.A. from Macalester College in English. In 1995 she received an MFA in Writing from Vermont College of Norwich University. She was a Stegner Fellow in Poetry at Stanford University from 1996-1998. She is the author of two full-length collections of poems,. Which was chosen as the winner of the 2014 Backwaters Prize and published by The Backwaters Press;. Saints of South Dakota and Other Poems.

Art walk san diego 2015. Walked down to Little Italy to check out this years art walk, and headed over to SDMCA to revisit the work of El Anatsui. The pieces are monumental which make me wonder what happens to them after an exhibition like this. How does anyone have this work in their home. Do they become public works? Some serious communication going on. Links to this post. Todays rain kept me from riding the bike and instead headed out for an urban hike. The plan was to check out the new Central Library downtown, from the inside. Instead I ended up at MCASD to check out Rita McBride's installations. Once again I have some very good fortune. On Sunday I met a friend at MCASD to see the show Dear Nemesis, Nicole Eisenman 1993-2013. So nice to experience engaging, provocative work that has you thinking, and is visually beautiful.
