Liegt die grösste Kupfermine der Welt, welche schon von weitem durch den aufgewirbelten Staub zu erkennen ist. Wir beteiligten uns an einer Besichtigung und bekamen so einen Eindruck des gewaltigen Ausmasses der Anlage und ihrer Problematik. Per Bus wurden wir erst durch die evakuierte Stadt Chuquicamata. Rund um die Uhr werden hier mit über 100 Muldenkippern.
