The Big "?": October 2010

http://bigquestionmarks.blogspot.com/2010_10_01_archive.html

Saturday, October 30, 2010. Feeling like Nacho Libre. It's one of the most exciting days of the year today — the day before Halloween. All week, we've been busily getting our costumes ready for the big day, and all month, it's been a time of mad brainstorming to figure out what we'll be. Be a Victorian-era safari explorer, the Statue of Liberty, Tron, Burt (from Burt's Bees), Domokun, or a garden gnome. Now he just has to figure out how to fit through doorways (and our narrow apartment hallway), hope the...

The Big "?": March 2011

http://bigquestionmarks.blogspot.com/2011_03_01_archive.html

Tuesday, March 29, 2011. Last week a funny thing happened on the Gold Coast. It's usually pretty breezy here, but one day the wind died down and was replaced by other sounds- a faint buzzing, the occasional "whap! And we started noticing these large shiny black beetles that were suddenly EVERYWHERE, buzzing around, flying into things, and creating mild havoc here on the coast. Diving straight into the pool with glee. After that, I stayed away from the pool, but we started noticing these things everywhere...

Tuesday, July 26, 2011. Surfers Paradise Hit List #4: Our 2 Favourite Pastimes. From now on, if anyone ever asks us what our interests are, our answer is going to be "Surfing. and brunch.". For locals that were happening at the surf school just down the block from us. We almost chickened out when we saw the weather forecast for the day - 41 km/hour winds! And saw the giant waves crashing on the beach. But then again, what better time to learn? So we showed up at Cheyne Horan Surf School. The local vetera...

The Big "?": Sandflies, Mountains, Rugby, and Sleeping Seals... A Few More NZ Adventures

http://bigquestionmarks.blogspot.com/2011/11/sandflies-mountains-rugby-and-sleeping.html

Saturday, November 5, 2011. Sandflies, Mountains, Rugby, and Sleeping Seals. A Few More NZ Adventures. Our original road trip plan had us tracing the southern coast all the way around to Te Anau, a bit inland, taking in the Catlins. That said, the daylight hours are long, even in October, and you can easily drive well into the evening and think it's still 4pm. we still carry a bit of that Aussie night-driving fear from our many 'roo-dodging' experiences years back. But onto more adventures! Started as a ...

The Big "?": A Weekend in the Centre

http://bigquestionmarks.blogspot.com/2011/12/weekend-in-centre.html

Friday, December 2, 2011. A Weekend in the Centre. The third stop of our journey around Oz was a far bigger jump than the previous, so there was no time to waste. We barely had time to squeeze in a swim in our magnificent hotel pool at the Sheraton Port Douglas, or to have a peek at beautiful Four Mile Beach (my former commute to work), before it was time to pack up and head to the centre of Australia. We were happy to learn on 26 November that Qantas had NOT yet gone on strike again! And managed to brav...

Going The Long Way Up. On May 4, 2007 we arrive in the thin country called Chile. Our plan is to get far enough south to play with penguins and hike the Torres Del Paines National Park and then 180 back towards Santiago and onward to Ecuador. We will be teaching english to balance our spending and be volunteering in the community to learn the language. Saturday, August 11, 2007. A Brave Toned Timid Girl: Bavarian Weekend

http://bravetonedtimidgirl.blogspot.com/2008/09/bavarian-weekend.html

Wednesday, September 3, 2008. Well, I left the UK once again.  This time to go to the wedding of my dear friends Joe and Birgit in Bavaria.  It was rather lovely, and I took a few pictures.  I've posted some of my favourite ones here. The ones at the end are of Munich.  We ended up going to Munich on Sunday as bit of a last minute adventure.  We were accompanied by Mica and Wolfgang , and their son James.  We had a lovely time! A Brave Toned Timid Girl: Berlin...

http://bravetonedtimidgirl.blogspot.com/2008/11/berlin.html

Thursday, November 13, 2008. It seems as if I have many a reason to visit Germany lately - I think the best one is that its so very close! I was in Berlin last week for a Bioplastic Conference, and decided to stay a couple of extra days to see the city! The architecture is AMAZING - so many different styles and visions all in one place, I felt as if I was walking through a history of design class with Sue Barnwell. Enjoy my photos! Ha ha, from seeing your photos, your design direction speaks for itself!

A Brave Toned Timid Girl: June 2008

http://bravetonedtimidgirl.blogspot.com/2008_06_01_archive.html

Saturday, June 7, 2008. York, Glasgow and Edinburgh. Man, I'm on a roll today. Here are some pics. Of the trip I took with my parents to York, Edinburgh and Glasgow. For some reason they didn't upload in order, so you'll just have to guess where each one was taken. The trip was amazing - we drank a lot of coffee and saw lots of old stuff - fun was had by all. So, I went to Romania with Alex in April. We spent a week there. It was a great trip. I've posted some pictures here. Subscribe to: Posts (Atom).

The Big "?"

Monday, January 30, 2012. Morning Tea with K-Rudd. My workplace was in a flurry recently as I walked in to find that everyone had been cleaning madly for the past few days. While the (grocery) store was looking great, I knew that this wasn't all for naught. I could only visualize a scene from North Korea where steel workers were tidying up for Kim Jong-Il's (1941-2011) imminent visit. Who could possibly be showing up? Subsequently Kevin '07's term as PM came to an abrupt end in 2010 when (we had left the...

The Big Questions

The Best Answers to the Big Questions. How can we know anything at all? We cannot know anything with absolute certainty. Ultimately all our knowledge must derive from external stimuli or internal processes or ‘hardware’, and there is no way of guaranteeing that either of these sources of information represent reality. In fact, they often do not: illusions and delusions are examples of unreliable external and internal information, respectively. Look here for the best places to buy iPod. Is there a god?
