The lower Aqua ducts were more elaborate and even described as beautiful by some… We came to the Catoctin Aqua duct then the Seneca Aqua duct which was built with red sandstone . The lower locks were actually working which was a treat. Great Falls was awesome and there were kayakers running it… Yikes I got chills watching one boat playing in the waves below the falls. September 19, 2013. Harpers Ferry to Leesburg. Leaving Harpers Ferry after scooting through the “Village” looking for shops to open… We stopped 5 miles down the trail to check out “Beans in the Belfry”. A converted Church now hipster coffee shop. I stopped at the Catoctin Aqua duct … a beautiful sight indeed. Another interesting sight was a huge old tree. Possibly a maple species with lots of burls all over it. Williamsport to Harpers Ferry.
