Birding with Kenn and Kimberly: Peru Trip with Wildside Nature Tours, Day 3: White-Sands Forest

http://birdingwithkennandkim.blogspot.com/2015/02/peru-trip-day-3-white-sands-forest.html

Monday, February 23, 2015. Peru Trip with Wildside Nature Tours, Day 3: White-Sands Forest. Day three welcomed us with a stunning sunrise . And a very cool surprise: a visit to a habitat known as white-sands forest. If you look at the descriptions of habitats in the field guide to Birds of Peru, you'll learn without reading a word how exciting this habitat is for birders. The paragraph describing white-sands forest is nearly three times as long as the descriptions of other habitats! Silver-beaked Tanager...

Friday, April 19, 2013. The Next Birding Movie, Part 5: from Director Rob Meyer! Filmmaker Rob Meyer in action, on the set. From Oak Harbor, Ohio, Kenn writes:. Okay, here's the deal about being the director of a film. It's like being God. Only better, because people actually do what you tell them to do. James Cameron screaming at the extras bobbing around in the water during the sinking scenes in Titanic. And so on. But until I visited the set of A Birder's Guide to Everything. It quickly became obvious...

Thursday, February 26, 2015. Peru Trip with Wildside Nature Tours, Day 6: Screamers, Dryer Lint Birds, and Pink Dolphins. Another spectacular day on the mighty Amazon River and smaller tributaries. And just wait until you see what followed along on our evening skiff ride! Ho Lee. Cow! The lovely Capped Heron was a highlight bird of the trip! Since this bird is closely associated with water,. Traveling by boat is a great way to see it! Cropped at a very long distance, in the shade, from a moving boat!

Wild at Heart: April 2011

Thursday, April 21, 2011. Warbler Season has Begun. Black-throated green, gettin' grub. Say THAT 5 times fast. The warblys are here. On their spring migration! Excuse me while I scream for joy! In my own development, I've already counted four warbly species:. Black-throated Green says 'peekaboo birder! Yellow-rumped warbly. "Walk this way! Yellow Warbler hagin' in there! Pine warbler living up to his name. The proverbial Song Sparrow. My neighborhood female Red-tailed Hawk and totem. The story this time!

Over the past week, I've seen everything from American Wigeons to Ring-necked Ducks in my neighborhood ponds! And a questionable Lesser Scaup. Andthe first antlered buck of the season! Combine that all with rain, and you've got SPRING! Ring-necks, some of my most favourite waterfowl. Mrs Gadwall puts on a show. Song sparrow say whaaat?

It occurred to me that maybe I should make a series of articles, unfinished works or discarded drafts, but that's something else. I figured, why not just post it, it is what it is. So here it is. I can not accept that there is no mark to communicate the way I feel for you. Made by soaking through. Shape as letter as shape.

Birds from the Ricks: Green-tailed Towhee

http://welovebirdsinwyoming.blogspot.com/2010/08/green-tailed-towhee.html

Birds from the Ricks. Sunday, August 22, 2010. It has been a nice quiet summer with not a lot of bird action around the house. Tonight I glanced out the back window and saw a large finchish looking bird. After looking closer, I saw that it wasn't a finch at all, but a Towhee. This is another new bird for us here in Wyoming. His red cap was very distinctive, and his white chin was very lovely. It was a getting dark with the onset of a storm, so it was hard to see his green tail. View my complete profile.

Birds from the Ricks: Edited- Great Horned Owls

http://welovebirdsinwyoming.blogspot.com/2010/07/great-horned-owls.html

Birds from the Ricks. Tuesday, July 20, 2010. Edited- Great Horned Owls. We haven't been out very much in the last few weeks, due to the summer heat and the enormous amounts of mosquitoes! But, last night when I was going to unplug the bug zapper, we heard this. After a little while we heard this. The unmistakable hoot of the Great Horned Owl! I just think it is one of the most beautiful sounds! I could listen to it forever. It didn't work, so I tried to cover the flash. It obviously didn't work! We prob...

Birds from the Ricks: June 2011

http://welovebirdsinwyoming.blogspot.com/2011_06_01_archive.html

Birds from the Ricks. Friday, June 24, 2011. Summer has finally come to Wyoming! We're trying to get out as much as possible and enjoy it while it's here. We headed out again tonight. We drove around Palisades Reservoir. We've seen lots of pelicans, but tonight was the ultimate jackpot if that's what you were looking for. Taken with our camera. Taken with Jake's iPhone. Too many window hits! Here's the back window from the outside. On a seperate note, here's the sunset last night. It's so pretty here!

Birding with Kenn and Kimberly

Thursday, September 15, 2016. Although Kenn and I were away from home and missed it, two more baby turtles hatched! And while our hearts might be a teensy bit sad to have missed it, we couldn't be happier that our dear friend Tiffanie got to share this experience with her daughter. In fact, after looking at the pictures and seeing the radiant, happy smile on Delaney's face as she released these tiny bundles of life, we wouldn't change the way these two baby turtles came into the world for anything.
