Born 15 July 1883, son of James Smith Bisset of Blairgowrie, Perthshire. Famously assisted the rescue of survivors from the Titanic on 14 April 1912. James Bisset later became Commodore of the Cunard line and was the author of several books relating to his career. The Times in July 2012 reported the sale of his gold Carpathia medal.
