A Reading Life: Goodbye, Kurt

http://blog.christinepoulson.co.uk/2014/06/goodbye-kurt.html

Crime writer Christine Poulson on reading, writing, and all things literary. Sunday, June 22, 2014. This strand was just as tense as the unravelling of the crime and I thought it was handled very well. It was a perfectly judged performance from Krister Hendriksson - what a wonderful actor he is - supported by a terrific cast, especially Charlotta Jonsson as Linda. The end was touching, undeniably bleak and yet not without its consolations. Posted by Christine at Sunday, June 22, 2014. Links to this post:.

A Reading Life: Crime Fiction Round-up

http://blog.christinepoulson.co.uk/2014/06/crime-fiction-round-up.html

Crime writer Christine Poulson on reading, writing, and all things literary. Thursday, June 26, 2014. I've decided to have an occasional round-up of crime fiction that I've enjoyed and I'm featuring three novels today. I came across a review of The Mangle Street Murders. By M R. C. Kasasian on one of my favourite blogs - http:/ clothesinbooks.blogspot.co.uk/2014/03/the-mangle-street-murders-by-mrc. My second novel is Asa Larrson's The Second Deadly Sin. Kate Ellis in The Cadaver Game. M R C Kasasian.

A Reading Life: April 2007

http://blog.christinepoulson.co.uk/2007_04_01_archive.html

Crime writer Christine Poulson on reading, writing, and all things literary. Monday, April 30, 2007. A bit of both maybe. After that I read HOLE IN ONE by Catherine Aird. I usually enjoy these short, slyly witty crime novels, but this time I couldn't be bother to get some rather similar characters straight and I didn't go for the golfing background. Is a coincidence that I'm struggling with my own novel at the moment (won't dignify this with the term writer's block)? Links to this post. I'd love to know.

jillysheep: April 2011

http://jillysheep.blogspot.com/2011_04_01_archive.html

Books, life the universe. Saturday, 23 April 2011. Happy St George's Day; and books. Why can't we have a Bank Holiday for St George's Day? We're falling over Bank Holidays this Easter but I still think we should have one for our national saint. Death in the Physic Garden by Karen Lowe. Murder and garden design. I first read this a few years ago and enjoyed it but thought I would re-read it before I read the next one featuring Fern Green - Death in the Winter Garden. Gently Down the Stream by Alan Hunter.

http://jillysheep.blogspot.com/2011/09/new-home-for-jillysheep.html

Books, life the universe. Sunday, 18 September 2011. New home for jillysheep. I am currently in the process of setting up jillysheep. On www.wordpress.com. I seem to have a lot of problems with blogger with it throwing me out from time to time and not letting me comment on other people's blogs even when signed into my account. It has been known to not let me amend my own posts and locks me in a loop of signing in and then throwing me out. So I decided to move house as it were. 19 September 2011 at 11:32.

Chris and Lindsey’s Place: Canon Rawnsley's May at the Lakes

http://www.chrisandlindsey.co.uk/2015/05/canon-rawnsleys-may-at-lakes.html

Chris and Lindsey’s Place. We love books, music, technology, going interesting places, walking. Canon Rawnsley's May at the Lakes. Canon Hardwicke Rawnsley's entry for May in his Months at the Lakes includes a surprising description of a visit to Arnside Knott. The view from Arnside Knott is beautiful and ever-changing with the seasons. It's a view I love and I was delighted to read that Rawnsley loved the Knott, too. Looking for our business website? jillysheep: Latest reading

http://jillysheep.blogspot.com/2011/09/latest-reading.html

Books, life the universe. Thursday, 15 September 2011. The Psychic Tourist by William. Perhaps it is possible to predict the future but no one really knows. Fortunately he is able to eradicate his sister's fear of drowning and takes her out in a rowing boat to show her she is quite safe. This is an interesting read with some thought provoking findings especially in the field of science. Mansfield Revisited by Joan Aiken. Which is worthy of Jane Austen. Are growing between Wesley and his wife Pam and the ...

jillysheep: March 2011

Books, life the universe. Sunday, 20 March 2011. Books read and reading. Death of a Prankster; Death of a Glutton and Death of a Travelling Man. All good light crime novels with some interesting things to say about human nature. I really loved Arabella and had completely forgotten. How amusing it is. I think Arabella is one of my favourites among Heyer's. Andrew Matthews - Happiness in Hard Times. Heir to the Darracott. Property indulges in a little bit of deception. H R F Keating. H R F Keating. jillysheep: Books and decorating

http://jillysheep.blogspot.com/2011/08/books-and-decorating.html

Books, life the universe. Thursday, 11 August 2011. I have been making a start on the decorating as well as doing other boring mundane chores which practically drive me demented but need to be done if we're not to live in a mess. I have practically finished the dining room/kitchen thanks to a very useful gadget - a Dulux. Paint Pod. It is basically an electrified roller system. Much quicker. Than using a roller normally as you don't have to stop and re-load the roller - you just press a button. The Merch...

jillysheep: November 2010

http://jillysheep.blogspot.com/2010_11_01_archive.html

Books, life the universe. Thursday, 25 November 2010. More books read and in progress. Dawn French's A Tiny Bit Marvellous. Barbara Erskine's Whispers in the Sand. Time-slip novel about Anna who goes on a Nile cruise to get over her divorce and gets involved in some unfinished business from thousands of years ago. I stopped reading this half way through when it first came out but decided to give it another go. I found it totally absorbing the second time round. Ruth Newman's Twisted Wing. Chick lit set a...

jillysheep: December 2010

http://jillysheep.blogspot.com/2010_12_01_archive.html

Books, life the universe. Monday, 27 December 2010. With Christmas out of the way . . . It's back to the reading. John Galsworthy - The Forsyte. All nine volumes of it. I haven't read it since the BBC dramatised the books back in the 1960s with Nyree. Dawn Porter and Irene and Kenneth More as young Jolyon. I find I am still seeing all those famous faces as I read! I do love these Golden Age detective story writers and it's great - form my point of view - that some at least are available as e-books. I lov...

jillysheep: October 2010

http://jillysheep.blogspot.com/2010_10_01_archive.html

Books, life the universe. Saturday, 30 October 2010. Busy Kindling . . . Is Kindling a verb created from a noun or is it just a new meaning for the word which means the wood you use to light a fire with? I seem to spend a lot of time reading at the moment and the novelty of my Kindle has not yet worn off. Recent reads in e-book have been:. Death in the Stocks. A body is found in the village stocks and leads Superintendent down some very murky byways. Wendy Holden - Gallery Girl. Footsteps in the Dark.

Posted by Christine Ho.
