High School: A Retrospective. So, this one is for my sister Katherine, and for all of the other adolescents in this tumultuously dynamic part of their thus-far short lives. I hope this advice helps. Being awkward about your body is a-okay. Don’t peak in high school. High school is one of the few places where so many different people will be jumbled together. Here’s a toast to the Class of 2015 and beyond. Make mistakes. Get messy.

Just saw this post on my timeline. It’s Christmas Eve, in the year 2014. This is not okay. My first reaction is a complementary scenario. It’s something like this:. Death is death. Illness is illness. But compassion should also be compassion, regardless of the physiological cause of tragedy. So this Christmas Eve, make sure to reach out to the ones you love, and the ones who love you, because that’s a real #classact.

I chose Portland because it was a cheap flight away from San Francisco, reasonably safe, and a place I didn’t think I’d visit for any other reason. But it doesn’t matter where I went—it could have been anywhere. What really matters in this story is what I learned in the process. I WAS HAVING FUN ON MY OWN.
