Thursday, January 8, 2015. Here's a look at my Christmas 2014. So much preparation! And it never fails - my Christmas pictures never turn out. Or at least I am always disappointed in them. I guess even pictures can't convey all the excitement that goes along with Christmas. I decided to use my Charlie Brown Christmas tree this year. Every year I make my granddaughter something. This year it was a Hello Kitty nightgown. She liked it. She even put it on before the evening was over. It was very cold! Cook c...

Monday, May 19, 2014. I have a lot of pictures to share today. It was such a fun day, I can't just choose a few. We had a wonderful Mother's Day brunch at Cousin Helen's house. Great food, company, and HATS! We must have taken a zillion pictures. The following are a choice selection of mine. The food was delicious! The table set so beautifully! It was a beautiful day and we had fun taking pictures. This is me and my beautiful niece, Sarah. Her hat was outrageous and suited her perfectly! New Dress A Day.

Tuesday, July 28, 2015. How Did That Happen? These pics are from APRIL! I just came across them and wanted to share. It was my oldest grandson's 18th birthday and we had a family get-together. We were all coming out of hibernation from the long winter and everyone was playing in the backyard. Even the big kids! Uncle Nate is on the trampoline! Bandit wants on the trampoline, too! Oh, what joy to chase a ball across the grass! Having a moment with Gracie the kitty. Happy birthday to you …! I've done a lot...

Friday, July 10, 2015. Since January this year, I have been the editor of the newsletter for our Folk Society. It must fulfill the writing urge for me, because I haven't been keeping up with my blog. Luckily, not only do I journal, but I also keep a small monthly planner, where I jot down things that are going on in my life. At the Cake Bake with beautiful nieces, Nellie and Sarah. Every year I have a wonderful display of Columbine. Another low-maintenance perennial that grow in my yard, Coreopsis. More ...

This 'n That: The Cake Bake
http://susankay49.blogspot.com/2015/02/the-cake-bake.html
Thursday, February 19, 2015. Well, I want to update everyone on my snowbird trip to Florida, but that's going to be kind of lengthy. First I want to tell you about a wonderful trip to Broad Ripple to the Cake Bake. You just have to go! It is at 6515 N. Carrollton Av. in Indy. They have wonderful cakes and desserts, coffee, soup - things like that. The decor is like a French pastry shop. I took my mom on a cold February day. We had a delightful time! This is the entrance to The Cake Bake restaurant.

Tuesday, March 11, 2014. A March Hike to Wolf Cave. On Sunday I took my second grandson hiking at McCormick's Creek State Park. It was a beautiful day in the winter woods. We hiked to Wolf Cave, a hike I have taken many times. Fortunately, at least for me, the cave is closed now, with a fence around it, the path diverted. There was no temptation to try to go through it, like in the old days. This was a much-needed day in the woods for this boy, a day away from school projects and his little sister.

Saturday, July 26, 2014. It has been a wonderfully cool. I am really enjoying it. I just don't do well in hot weather. It was warm enough to take the grandkids swimming at my cousin's house this week. We had a good time! It brought to mind a song I know about swimming, written by Loudon Wainwright III. You can hear it. This summer I went swimming. This summer I might have drowned. But I held my breath and I kicked my feet. And I moved my arms around. I moved my arms around. This summer I swam in the ocean.

Monday, March 2, 2015. My First Snowbird Trip to Florida. So here's the story behind my two-week snowbird trip to Florida. Joe, my ex-husband, and I have remained friends over the years. He lives in Florida, but was home for Thanksgiving. He was saying how much he missed seeing the grandkids on a regular basis,. So I said, "Hey, I have a great idea! Why don't we do a house swap! He said, "When? I said, "January." He said, "For how long? I said, "How about a month? The view from the condo's windows.).

Tuesday, April 14, 2015. And here are a few scenes from Easter Sunday. Lovely forsythia - a once-a-year delight. Cashmere bunnies, made from Goodwill cashmere sweaters. They were one of my winter projects and they turned out so cute! The cat who lives at Mom's house. She gets jealous when anyone else is getting Mom's attention. We had a smallish group for dinner this year - just nine. No out of town guests, and some regulars were in California. We had a small but lively Easter egg hunt. New Dress A Day.
