A blog of my responses and reflections on web 2.0 applications and how they relate to my work in public libraries. Should be fun. Friday, December 18, 2009. Use for RSS in council productions. These sort of serialised pamplets have starting coming out with RSS links so staff or interested customers can add them to a reader and keep up to date with the information they contain. I love this idea and wondered if it could be extended to out productions like the council's agendas and minutes? Was really just ...

I Google chat from either iGoogle or Googlemail as well as the instant messaging service attached to Facebook fairly often depending on who I find online. What did you like about them? How would they be useful in a library? Thoughts and observations by. Friday, January 29, 2010. Library learning 2.1. Another fa...

A blog of my responses and reflections on web 2.0 applications and how they relate to my work in public libraries. Should be fun. Thursday, February 4, 2010. You weren't kidding there were a lot of mashups out there! My attention has been drawn by one for promoting Southern African tourism called Africa Bespoke. Both Google Maps and Flickr are used to present images of tourist destinations all over the eight countries that make up the lower half of Africa. Very neat presentation. Labels: library learning...

A blog of my responses and reflections on web 2.0 applications and how they relate to my work in public libraries. Should be fun. Monday, March 10, 2008. I'm thinking I just don't get RSS. I've recently joined Google Reader and it is a easier to look at program compared to Bloglines, but I'm still having issues. I have blogs I'd like to add to my list, they have RSS tags (little orange icons) for both entries and comments yet can do I find the URL for feeds? Thoughts and observations by. Here at work....

Thursday, April 17, 2008. You Tube and Google video. Very very disappointed with week 6 as I couldn't view anything at work. I,t's next to impossible at home, although I should probably ask my teenages to I understand the concept and would probably find it fascinating. The mind boggles when I think of what is on You Tube and Google Video. If and when I did access it I would probably become addicted to viewing videos of interest. Friday, April 11, 2008. Great word, great concept, very interesting.

101 in event management (back to school). This week is the world of event management. Sounds so eduational! In fact its to do with organising meetings using online tools. Doodle allows you to set up a poll with the idea to when a meeting can be scheduled. You can find my experiment in the following participation link: http:/ www.doodle.com/kft7dsh9dvpn7gtk. Ground control to major tom (can you hear me). Testing testing 1,2. it's instant communication, which is kind of old school. IM i mean. It's a service that comes with your sign-on to the major email sites such as Hotmail, Yahoo and AOL. Just as mobiles were hitting the market, IM was already full swing with teens chatting to one another between after school and bedtime. http://thoughtsfromchesterhill.blogspot.com/2010/02/mashups.html
Tuesday, February 9, 2010. Bkkeeper - waste of peoples time in my opinion. LibWorm - looks good. Visual Headlines - odd way of looking at news. Flickr Memari - fun thing to do. Let me google that for you - ok, but can't you get the same info from a straight google search? Crime Reports - ok but do you really want to know what's happening in your meighbourhood? Walkable - good idea. On the whole, I can see the advantage of mashups. I'm just about to go look at a few. Bye. February 13, 2010 at 2:50 PM.

http://annie-myotherworld.blogspot.com/2010/02/playing-dr-frankenstein-destination.html
Playing Dr Frankenstein. the destination. It's the end of the road and finishing up with mashups. According to Wiki "In web development, a mashup is a web page or application that combines data or functionality from two or more external sources to create a new service." ( http:/ en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Mashup (web application hybrid. Though the above tend to be US-orientated, there's a good place for Aussie mashups: last last year there was a competition that can be seen at http:/ mashupaustralia.org/.
