Sunday, August 24, 2014. Just wanted to give a quick recap of Matilda's procedure. The night before, Matilda did great. She would have probably slept through the night if I didn't wake her up at 3 am to feed her (since she wasn't allowed to eat up to 4 hours prior to the surgery). They spent the next hour casting her. Sunday, November 9, 2014. Another month has flown by! When Matilda had her cast change a couple of weeks ago, they weighed her prior to the cast change and then weighed her cast once it was cut off. Based on that, we'd estimate she weighed between 14-14.5 pounds and is around the 10% percentile for weight. We're still testing out solids. Thursday, April 17, 2014. Matilda survived her first week! And so did her parents! An even bigger hooray! Here's a little summary from Matilda's first week. It seems like everyday she is getting more and more alert during her time awake, which has been fun. She eats on average about 15 times a day for 20 minutes each feeding session. Tuesday, September 9, 2014. Matilda is five months old today! This month flew by! No idea. We can't really take any stats while in her cast. I've heard some babies lose weight or stay the same weight in the cast, so hopefully she's still gaining weight. I worry since she's already barely hanging on to the lowest growth curve, but I guess there's not much we can do other than encourage her to keep eating. Friday, February 21, 2014. 32 weeks this past Tuesday. I can practically start counting down the days instead of months or weeks. Same ole, same ole. Nothing new to report here. 4 pounds during the last four weeks and 17.5 pounds overall. Still rocking and rolling. Everything is going well. Passed my glucose test with flying colors, but I'm a bit anemic so I've starting taking iron supplements. Seems to be a pretty common issue in the third trimester, so I'm not that concerned. As I looked through this past month's pictures, I noticed a few trends: Matilda in weird places and positions, Matilda eating new things, and Matilda playing outside. At 95 months old, Matilda weighed 16 pounds 6 ounces (18th percentile), was 26 inches long (3rd percentile), and had a 17 inch head circumference (27th percentile). Total time: 30 minutes. 1 pound ground beef (I used 85/15 grass fed). 1 cup spinach, chopped loosely (about 2 big handfuls). 1/2 teaspoon garlic powder (or 1 smashed garlic clove). 1/4 teaspoon chile powder. 1/4 cup instant oats.
