Bob's Pacific Beach House: Hike to the Pony Bridge
http://bobspacificbeachhouse.blogspot.com/2010/07/hike-to-pony-bridge.html
Bob's Pacific Beach House. Saturday, July 3, 2010. Hike to the Pony Bridge. I have a new favorite hike in the Lake Quinault area: the Pony Bridge. The Pony Bridge spans a narrow canyon where the East Fork Quinault River is forced through a narrow channel between giant rocks. The water rushes through here as fast as I've ever seen water move. It's an exhilirating sight, which the photos can't fully convey, since you are missing the sound and the movement. You must go visit yourself! I'm getting old. A...

Remote, Natural Lake Wynoochee in the Olympic National Forest
http://www.northbeachvacation.com/lake_wynoochee.html
This beautiful lake at the southern end of the Olympic National Forest remains undeveloped and little. Visited. The only signs of man are the dam at the bottom of the lake, a campground and park, and a trail. Around the lake. The rest of the lakeshore is all wild and ringed by forest and hills. The lake is reached from the south at Montesano up the Wynoochee Valley Road or from the west at. Humptulips over the Donkey Creek Road. Both routes about 37 miles. These had been dirt roads, but we. Campground wh...

Bob's Pacific Beach House: July 2010
http://bobspacificbeachhouse.blogspot.com/2010_07_01_archive.html
Bob's Pacific Beach House. Saturday, July 24, 2010. Kayaking on Lake Quinault. We finally got a chance to kayak on Lake Quinault. I've hauled my kayak out there before in the off-season, only to learn that the Quinault Tribe only permits boating of any kind on the lake between Memorial Day and Labor Day. This does make Lake Quinault probably the most serene and undisturbed large lake in the state in the off-season. Video of Kayaking on Lake Quinault. Video of Upper Quinault River Mouth. Bob's Pacific Beach House: November 2008
http://bobspacificbeachhouse.blogspot.com/2008_11_01_archive.html
Bob's Pacific Beach House. Sunday, November 30, 2008. Grays Harbor County Courthouse in Montesano. We returned to the Grays Harbor County Courthouse in Montesano on a Monday before Thanksgiving in order to turn in our passport applications. We had tried to apply for passports the year before at the Bellevue Main Post Office, but the line ran out the door. At this courthouse we strode right up to the county clerk's desk (room 203) without any waiting. It was such a pleasure. Links to this post. The Ocean ...

Bob's Pacific Beach House: August 2010
http://bobspacificbeachhouse.blogspot.com/2010_08_01_archive.html
Bob's Pacific Beach House. Saturday, August 28, 2010. Kayaking on Lake Wynoochee. I thought I would see a view of the Olympic peaks from the lake, but the hills blocked the view. The hills were pretty enough. After a quick swim and picnic, we launched our kayaks: Austin in the single and James and I in the double. It had been chilly at the coast where we set out, but it was warm this day at the lake. A breeze kept us comfortable. We were running late on time, or we might have explored further north. ...

Bob's Pacific Beach House: April 2009
http://bobspacificbeachhouse.blogspot.com/2009_04_01_archive.html
Bob's Pacific Beach House. Saturday, April 11, 2009. Kayaking on the Copalis River (Upstream). Eventually, the forest closes in on the river, the river narrows, and you start to run out of room to maneuver. We struggled past a clump of fallen trees and branches, only to be stopped a little further ahead by a tree that blocked the entire river. I think we traveled about 2 miles inland in total.
