The quail put on a good show and we all got views of them with the black on their throats prominent and rufous bellies and rumps So now Benny has another bird species name to add to his list. A brief spin around the area yielded four Small Pratincoles and an Indochinese Bushlark and in keeping with the quail theme I made out the call of at least two Rain Quail. Laquo; Ruby, Ruby, Ruby!

Birds of Thailand and Beyond. Birding in Ratchaburi, Thailand and Beyond. Pied Harriers at Huay Mai Teng Reservoir. But very interesting and exciting. I only managed 90 minutes today but it seemed the site was overrun with anglers: they were everywhere. Water level was still highish though it is not possible to drive across the road which cuts across the reservoir. Heaps of Blue-tailed Bee-eaters and Drongos. Watch this space! On the drive home through Khao Yoi I rather fancy I had a brief view of a Pink-necked Green Pigeon but no claims as it was gone before I could get the bins on it. Lovely way to start the weekend. Sunday, May 10, 2015. Five broadbills in five hours. I spent this morning birding at Kaeng Krachan National Park, focusing on the "three streams" area beyond Bang Krang camp. Being a weekend in the middle of nesting season this area was very very popular with bird phtographers, but I still managed to get away from the crowds to find my own birds. Wednesday, November 26, 2014. A walk around Suan Rot Fai this morning produced a few notable birds including a Peregrine. Three Pale-legged/Sakhalin Leaf Warblers. Two Grey-headed Canary Flycatchers. And two species of Bittern. On the same pool - a juv Cinnamon. And two adult male Yellows. A Norfolk Birder in Thailand. Wednesday, March 12, 2014. Between the March 3rd and 4th we spent an afternoon and a full day birding around Chiang Saen Lake. As usual most of the ducks on the lake were very distant, frustratingly we were unable to arrange a boat trip, though we did have distant views of 9 Ruddy Shelduck. And amongst the many of hundreds of Lesser Whistling Duck. Were at least 20 Northern Pintail. A few waders were also noted including a 2 Small Pratincole. Three Little Ringed Plover.

A Norfolk Birder in Thailand. Tuesday, December 9, 2014. Hopefully Fred has some much better photos). Being the first, followed a little while later by a Rusty-naped Pitta. Which spent the next forty minutes feeding in the open down to a few feet, giving amazing views and allowing Fred to take very many photos. This was followed a few minutes later by a Northern White-crowned Forktail. Which also fed right in front of the blind, though we had seen Northern White-crowned Forktail. Two Streaked Wren Babbler.
