Where am I now? Somewhere out there, where there is no internet. Sunday, August 31, 2008. The government pays certain residents of the village to teach in the village school. The government has also built a clinic in the village for people in the area. There are Brazilian health workers that live at the village and treat people in the clinic and also travel to other villages on the river. We spent quite a bit of time going from house to house visiting different families. This girl has a pet squirrel.

I had never seen these before coming here as they don't eat them in the area where I grew up. They are kind of like big tamales.
